Trivia:

  • Raised on a farm in Fernhill, New Zealand until he left home at 17

  • Started his film career after joining the crew of TV show The Prisoner for a few months in 1981 and became interested in the film business

  • His wife Chris also worked on The Lord of the Rings as the art department manager

  • Appeared during the armory scene in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) as a cameo

  • Is one of six children

  • Worked as an architect for five years

  • Admires the film Moulin Rouge for its production design

  • At one time his occupation was a worker on a fishing trawler

  • Met his wife in 1968. They were married 17th March, 1973

  • Studied at the Wellington Polytechnic School of Architecture
