Graduated in 1985 from the University of Southern California with a BA in journalism
Has a brother, Joel who is an executive in the entertainment, media and technology industry

During his 20 years at New Line Cinema, he aquired or executive-produced over 60 films including the company’s first Best Picture nominee, Shine which also provided New Line with it’s first major category winner; Best Actor for Geoffrey Rush

As well as being a producer, he also directed some of the second unit for The Lord of the Rings
