History:

Haldir was a scout on the borders of Lothlórien, along with his brothers, Rúmil and Orophin. When the Fellowship of the Ring came to Lórien, Haldir conversed with them, as he had travelled outside of Lórien and knew Westron, the Common Tongue. Legolas told Haldir how many companions made up the Fellowship, and, although Haldir balked slightly at the mention of a Dwarf, he let them safely spend the night in a talan in the trees. He and his fellow scouts tricked the orcs of Moria, leading them on with feigned voices into the wood. In the morning, Haldir led the companions to Caras Galadhon, and, as the Fellowship prepared to leave Lothlórien, he gave Sam a length of invaluable hithlain rope.

Haldir may have protected Lothlórien against the three assaults made on the realm, but he is never mentioned after the events in The Fellowship of the Ring.
