Newish. Vinincë? Curse those y's that can't come before i's
Nevermind. Forget the Quenya. Most people probably don't know what I'm talking about anyway (vinya means new, by the way)
I'm sort of new. I've actually had the account for a while but had forgotten about it (I still don't really remember getting it). I think this is the first time I've really been on the forum properly though.
So all that is to say, Hello. Mai omentaina, my attempt at translating the better known Sindarin mae govannen (well met) into Quenya.
I like Maedhros, Quenya (and Sindarin too if I could just get a hold on it), making signatures out of obscure HoME quotes, th's (for Fëanor son of Therindë's sake), and abbreviating HoME and LotR with lower case o's and t's.
Not that I think anybody cares, but it said introduce yourself.

Welcome to A-U! Your banners are quite cool, by the way.
Yay for another Maedhros fan! We shall rule the forum one day, you know.
So, go ahead and hang around the forum, hop in on some discussions, and be prepared for randomness and much Tolkien-related fun. If you've ever got questions, feel free to PM me and ask. Hope you enjoy your time here!

The y's that can't come before i's? Yes, they are confusing.
I was trying to translate newish into Quenya by adding the diminuative suffix '-incë' to the adjective 'vinya'. You would usually just drop the a and stick the sufffix right on there. But, if I remember what Helge Fauskanger said in his Quenya course right, the combination 'yi' isn't allowed in Quenya, so no 'vinyincë'. I think what you're supposed to do is drop the whole '-ya' but I wasn't quite sure. Vinincë sounded a little too far from vinya, but I think it's alright. The vowel i and the consonant y are closely related after all, which I guess is why they can't be right next to each other.
Now you're probably just ten times as confused. Maybe I should save the Elvish for the language forum from now on. The only problem is that it seemed a little bit dead.
P.S. What does Nélmárië mean, Tur? I know namárië, farewell, which seems to literally mean be-well, but I can't figure out Nélmárië. Nel- means three, three-well? three good? Or was it a typo?
So much for my resolution to keep the Elvish to the language forum hey?

More along the lines of - confused as to why you're giving a language lesson in an intro forum, cause that generally doesn't happen.
You're more than welcome to revive the language forum anyhow, seems like it could use quite a bit of that.
And <3 Tur. :]

Welcome! I'm glad to see someone who's so enthused about the language. I hope this will help revive the LotR sections some. Settle in and enjoy yourself here!

 Welcome to A-U Dark!
I'm Rinoa or some call me Rin for short. It is always exciting when new people join our little (well not really little) community. A-U is a fun place and I hope you will stick around and join the fun.
With that said, welcome again and I'll see you around!
I love your banner, by the way. It's very beautiful.
