Nice, I think it's pretty cool that a non-professional and non-profit forum is able to come out on top of the first pages of search results! :)
I think I found the forum just the same way! Arwen has always been one of my favorite characters in the movies because 1) she's Elven and 2) she is a female character and there aren't many female Elven characters in the movies so I may have been looking up more info about her when i found the forum. I admit it's very fangirlish and they did elaborate a lot more on movie-Arwen compared to Tolkien's original Arwen but fact is that Liv is too beautiful so ever since I joined here I've had at least one Arwen-banner/avatar. And no it never get's old even though I've grown to care a lot for most of the characters. :P

I want to re-read LotR over the summer by the way and I'm thinking of starting/joining a forum-based reading group. I think that would add new ideas to the discussions. :)

Its now the second hit that comes up. After the wiki entry for her character ofcourse  that is pretty cool.
Arwen is an amazing character. Liv portrayed her well and yes i agree- she is stunning.

Thats a great idea. id be up for that, whenever you feel like starting feel free to send me a pm. Im sure people would be interested.

by the way just curious, did u see the movies first or read the books?

Great, at least we're two people in the book club. I guess that's enough to call it a club! Actually, I used to have a book club with my friend too - and we were only the two of us. :teehee:

Well, I started out trying to read The Hobbit because I read a lot of fantasy at that time but I admit I couldn't get through it.. I just couldn't get into the plot. But then I saw FotR and I was hooked and gulped down the trilogy and found this awesome forum and the missing ingredient in my life, and from that day I had fairies sprinkling rose petals before my feet and a jazz band to accompany my journey into the world! And I lived happily ever after... The End. :P

I love the Sil too, by the way, but the funny thing is that I never got into The Hobbit. I remember reading a comic book version of The Hobbit long time ago so I know the plot. The illustrations were stunning but I have never been able to get into the plot... I'm excited for The Hobbit movie though! :teehee:

Yea, more than 1 person even if its just two is a club :)

i started by reading the hobbit too. I was young and the illustrations attracted me enough to read it. I loved how Tolkien presented the characters. I then heard that LotR movies were out so i dubbed them a must-see when i heard that theyre after events of the hobbit. After seeing the FotR, i was hooked. Got the books within a week after seeing the movie and loved them all.
Theres a comic book version? i never knew that.

The hobbit movie is going to be amazing im sure. Thank god that PJ is directing :-D

You should take a look at the comic book/graphic novel. It's beautiful. I tried to look it up but the cover page isn't the same as in the edition I read and I wasn't able to browse the book, but I think it's the same. If you want the info clicky
I read the book with this cover: http://www.williamdam.dk/popup_image.php?pID=1173984

And I'm so excited for the movie - and with PJ directing I'm sure it'll be grand!! :)

So, I thought I'd posted here, and then realized I hadn't. But now I feel like it's a bit late to "welcome" you, per se, because you seem to have settled right in. :teehee: But welcome to you anyway!

Haha 14*C is like.. nice and comfortable to me. In the winter, it usually drops down to -5*C or -10*C with lots and lots of snow. In the far north of Sweden they often get -40*C in the winter, but I live further south so the coldest I've ever experienced was -23*C (though that was a rare occasion). In the summer it usually stays around 25*C, though sometimes we even get 28*C or 30*C (the hottest temperature I've experienced in Sweden was 33*C).

Sweden is lovely. Such beautiful nature with dark forests, deep blue lakes (we have 97,000 of them!), flowery meadows, green pastures, snowy mountains. Very much like Middle Earth! :)

woah thats like freezing. Im sad to admit ive never seen snow live before. Though it snowed once here in 1992 i believe .
Those pictures are beautiful . yes it does seem that your country is very middle earth-esque in its landscape, very lucky.
i see youre a fan of Nightwish as well, seeing as the singer is now from Sweden you must be very proud :)

My name is Johnny's Fan, but you can call me JF - everyone else does. :P I really hope you will have a great time here, I'm sure you'll love all the LOTR discussions we have. :-) If you need any help, feel free to ask.

Enjoy your time and see you around.

Hey JF, thank you for your kind words. Im enjoying my time here already and found some great discussions. Hope to see you around too :-D

Great! Glad you are having a good time. :-)

And just jumping in on the reading discussion, I would be interested in that. I only ever read up to the chapter in TTT that then became ROTK - started reading FOTR and TTT for the first time before ROTK came out and when I realised Shelob's Lair etc was actually part of TTT I stopped. And I never re-read them or finished the trilogy. :-o

Bad JF. :P

I have read The Hobbit though, so I guess that saves me from being chased from the community. :teehee: I think I am the only one on here not to have read LOTR.

Great that you want to join :-D Thats 3 of us already and hopefully more to come. That will be amended  It might make it more exciting for you since you havent read them before. The first time you read a book its always the best :-D

Three people for a book club that doesn't even exist is a great start! :P
Gimli:: I really hope you'll like the books, you must have built quite the expectations to the trilogy by now. I know you'be been reading parts of the books but still...

Elessar:: The language is Danish. I'm from Denmark, the small country next to Sweden.

To save any confusion, Ive changed my name from Elessar to Legolas as i didn't see anyone with the name on the member list. (Though if there is by all means let me know as there was a Legolas600 but as i dont have any numbers hope its ok)

I'm a bit surprised that the name hasn't already been taken. :p But nope, nobody here goes by the name of Legolas, so it's all yours!
