Oh, and from reading some of the other posts in the "welcome" threads, it seems that the forums got reset or something at some point in time. Did the post counts change over as well? or did everyone start anew?

that sounds very interesting what happened with the Misc. Randomness posts. I bet it was a huge deal, but I agree, there must be some meaningful posts or else it'll just turn into a big random forum (and the LotR will slowly fade away). I was recently part of a Harry Potter forum, but people only posted random junk and off topic stuff, so the forum basically died I hate when that happens. Before that I was part of a Zelda forum (Zelda Music/ZREO) but the guy that headed the ZREO project got tired of it so he shut it down. Quite sad, really. Well as long as Arwen doesn't shut down, i'll be good to go

That's good to know. So I noticed that since Arwen is on break from school she's had more time to do stuff around the site (eg. a new banner round). How is the site when she's not around so much--like before all these recent updates? Do you ever run out of stuff to talk about?

Neeevvver! Lol, there're too many fandoms to count around here, as well as an abundance of random members. At times it's slow, cause of school and such. But that's inevitable I suppose.

You might be interested to know that a long time ago, about 1 1/2 years, A-U got this new forum. We had another one for years before that (which I was a member of for a couple months), but it was too cluttered cause of the expansion to non-LotR topics. Arwen created a new one, and everyone lost their posts and started from scratch.

So i assume newbies (for lack of a better term ) usually just post "Hi, i'm new" blah blah etc and then you never see them again? Sounds odd but i can see them thinking this is a forum topic for that sole reason. Speaking of which, are any of you 'assigned' to this topic or do you just volunteer or what? I mean that since you generalized about people, it seems that you had been on this thread awhile.

Yeah. It's good to see that you aren't one of those newbies that just comes and says, "Lookies! I'm a newbie!" And then never posts again.
We get that a lot.
Well basically there's a team of people who like to welcome these people, and hope they're going to be active called the Welcoming Team. It's completely voluntary. Most of us have had quite a lot of experience with newbies, because more and more come every day.

Anyway, I'm Mel, and I hope that you enjoy the forum! If you have any more questions, you can ask me, one of the mods or one of the welcoming team. Whoever suits your fancy.
