Oh my... I'm going to miss you FM. Your posts made me laugh so often. You'll be a huge loss to this place, and I wish I could have gotten to know you much better. I can't understand what your parents did, but I have nothing but respect for you for adhering to their wishes. I know I could never have done that. Hopefully we'll get to see you around some time in the future. Never forget us, because we will never forget you.

NEWS OF FM

Hey peeps, I've just been having a good long talk with FM and I asked her if I could let y'all tell you how she's doing so here goes.

Well, she's doing OK. She's not happy about it but she is coming to terms with it, although she's finding it hard. Her parents not liking LOTR and not wanting her to like LOTR, was made even harder when they made her burn, yes you heard me right, all her LOTR books and even the DVD's. It seems they also have a "thing" about Narnia, so they made her burn those books as well. It seems they think that C.S Lewis and J.J.R Tolkien wrote those books to corrupt people's minds....yah....they have also forbidden her to even stalk AU, and even though FM deletes all her history files, they still search the computer for AU-ness. The computer is also situated in the living room, which makes AU-ing impossible and if they do find her on here...she has the computer taken away for 2 weeks. Now, another thing is that FM feels that her parents are doing this for her own good and she should respect their wishes, and she even feels guilty for ranting about it to me....but I think no matter what our thoughts are about this a) her parents are being unreasonable and b) FM had no choice but to comply life would have been made very bad had she not agreed....she was told if she didn't agree, her computer would be taken away for good.

The only good things about this is that FM, does have some real life friends who are serious Ringers so they are helping her though this, which is really good I think. Also when she watching the books burn she started laughing as she said it made her "feel like Faramir". She also thinks it's ironic that the harder her parents try to make her forget LOTR, the more it keeps popping back into her head saying "don't think you can forget me precioussss".

So I only hope in time, her parents will see sense so we can have our ball of randomness back.

OK I am just shocked here... at loss for words. How can you make your child burn the things she loves? That is pure mental abuse. Had my parents done that I would have left and disowned them in an instant. I can only feel for Joy and I hope she realizes that she'll be 18 soon and will have the legal right to take it all back!

OMG I am SHOCKED!!! They made her BURN her LotR stuff?????????????? That is unbelievable. How could you burn books??? I don't get it. I am relieved to hear that she has some real life friends who are Ringers. That should make things a bit easier for her. But still I can't believe what I've just read. I am actually speechless hearing that. I can't see how her parents can do that. if mine tried that on me... well, I won't go there. I feel so sorry for her, being forced to burn possibly the two best sets of books there are.

... they made her BURN them? They made her burn BOOKS? What kind of parenting is that? I know I am in no position whatsoever to criticize anyone's parenting, but that is ridiculousl! I told my own mum about it and even she says that it is not right. Nobody in their right mind would make their daughter burn what she loves. I just cannot believe that... just because THEY do not like it, they force their daughter to give it up? That is their own problem and they shouldna drag their daughter into it with them. Goodness, I really hope that she stands up to them when she does turn 18... she doesna deserve to be forced to do things like that.
But of course, they are her parents and she must respect their wishes... no matter how cruel.

I hope that they will realise one day that what they are doing is wrong...
