~RinielAranel~ wrote: 5. I began to know a lot of people by their avatar, or graphics. Never do this!!! Graphics change periodically, and you'll be lost if you don't recognize the people! Discern users by their NAMES not their AVATARS!!!
On that note, though, it can sometimes be good to keep your banner, avatar etc consistant for a while, especially while other people are still getting to know you. Changing them, and the same goes for changing your name, can potentially mean people don't realise who you now are...
Of course, once you've been here a while, it is a slightly different story.
Also, please people DO NOT use this thread for introducing yourself (there are plenty of threads for that ) - this is for advice for newbies. However, if you are a new member, and you do have a question, feel free to ask it here since chances are others may have similar questions. Thanks.

Hi! I don't know if this is the right place to ask this quesiton but I was wondering how you get banners that are dedicated to you on your message. You can tell by this question that I am very computer illiterate. Thanks!

You know,I am not sure. I wish that was something I knew.
Well, when I came here I had no clue what I was doing. One thing I wish I knew was how to put pictures on my signiture...now I do! Thanks to the moderators!

to AU! I'm EU and I'm sure that after being at AU for a while, you'll become accostomed to posting, even when it's busy.
I hope you enjoy your time here and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
EU
P.S. Why not make your own topic, saying "I'm New!" or something if the sort, you'll get a lot more welcomes that way - it's a good way to get to know people.

Well, I'm brand-new here, and I have a sort of random question: when someone has "Ringer for Christ" in their signature, that means they're a Christian, right?

Welcome to A-U Alatariel Frodo. I hope you'll have a great time here.
Yeah, I suppose they would be Christian... AND LotR fans!! Also the little signs some people put within brackets in their signatures indicate if they want to talk about their religion (which doesn't necessarily have to be Christian, but most likely) or pray for others.
You can find the meaning of the "codes" here:

You are welcome to PM me if you have any other questions!

Well this is not much preferable talking in A.U but as Ea said you can talk via PM. I do not like talking religions but I may answer for you if you ask me via PM. By the way, welcome to A-U, Altariel Frodo. This is Faramir. Glad to meet you. At your service when you need of a friend

Don't worry, I will follow the A-U rules on talking religion. And thanks for the welcome, Faramir!
