Well, technically speaking I'm not 'new', I joined in 2007. After lurking for 2 years I finally decided to start posting! So hello everybody!  I think I'll have a lot of fun here.
As an aside, does anyone know where it would be appropriate to post an essay? I see a fanfiction and poetry board, but nothing for essays. |

Welcome to posting!  I'm glad you've finally decided to speak up. You definitely will have fun! 'Tis a great place to be, is AU.
I can't say I've ever tried to post an essay, but I'd be heading the the fanfic board. I guess, depending on the context, it could also fit in on the 'Your Life' board. It's really your call. There are no penalties for posting in the wrong spot- if it's way out of place a mod might move it, but that's not the end of the world. What's the essay about? |

Well, it's good to know there are no penalties for posting in the wrong board. I figured the fanfiction/poetry board was my best bet, but I wasn't sure. The essay is kind of a mixture of a defense of Book!Arwen and why she's one of my favourite characters. It was just written for fun, because I'm a big fan.

Welcome. Nice Robin Hood banner, one of my favourite shows most definitely. About your essay - not too sure. Sounds like it could either go in Fanfiction & Poetry or Completely Miscellaneous LotR. Try the F&P section, if it doesn't go there, the mods will see fit to move it for you. |

Anyway, I think the Fanfiction seciton sounds like your best bet.  Your essay sounds interesting, I'd read it.

Hi, Minie! (I have given you a nickname. Muhahaha.) Your experience sounds very similar to mine, except that I waited a few years to sign up. Oh, the times as a lurker... As you probably have already seen, AU is one of the friendliest places on the web. I look forward to seeing you around!
An Arwen fan? Well, I think we could come up with interesting discussions. You see, I'm 100% Anti-Arwen, possibly because I'm a rabid Aragorn/Eowyn fan.  I'll leave this topic alone for now.

thanks for welcoming me, everybody! all right, the fanfiction board it is, then. i'm reworking the intro right now, but it'll be up sometime. SilverRose: Ye-es...I was wondering what kind of nicknames might pop up during my time here... I know you're a rabid A/E shipper (oh the power of being a lurker!) but I'm not worried because you seem very reasonable and calm and fun about it. no flaming wars, is what i mean.

haha Minieeeee!!! That would be quite an amazing name to screech at the top of your lungs.
Oh, that's right! I forgot that you'd know stuff. Yesh, lurking is awesome. I remember feeling like I knew everyone before I joined, and then actually having to join and feeling all nervous. If people love Arwen or other characters I don't like, I respect that. Character wars can get really ugly and I can't stand fights like that because it ruins the happiness that is AU. If I'm going to talk about my dislike for certain character, I normally leave it for PMs with a person who I know doesn't like that character, too. I just have fun with my odd-ball A/Eness!

Hey, I get to officially welcome you now! So welcome, to my fellow Robin Hood fan. I would be really interested in reading that essay. I'm not a big Arwen fan (neither am I an A/E fan, I'm just not an Arwen person) so it would interesting to hear that side.

I have one more question...how do you get your banner centered in your signature, and how do you get the text size smaller? (Two questions for the price of one!)

A big welcome to you, Minuialwen! Or welcome to posting, I should say. I'm glad to see another lurker "coming out of the shadows" and joining us fully!
I believe I can help you with your questions. First, on centering your banner, all you have to do is put this: Code: <center>[img]link here[/img]</center> On your second question, I'm assuming you mean the text in your sig? To make it bigger or smaller, just put this: Code: [size=whatever]Text here[/size] And that should do the trick. Also, if you want to change the color of the text in your sig, it's much the same - just put Code: [color=whatever]Text here[/color]
