As someone named Elthir I would hope that knowing simply one word gives me the correct answer here.



But as far as speaking Elvish, I can't. However even Tolkien himself couldn't speak any of his Elvish tongues.

But people mean different things by 'speak Elvish'. This FAQ points out what people might mean when they ask about 'learning' Elvish.

I remember maybe 5 phrases from the elvish section on AU, but nothing more than that. Luckily for me "El sila erin lu e-govaned vin" was one of those five!

I remember a lot of elvish cause I wrote down a bunch of terms in a notebook and it kinda stuck in my head
