Hello to you all, I'm Thenidiël from the Netherlands. 30-something, married, two beautiful daughters. I read Tolkien for the first time when I was 12 and re-read the books many times since then. I saw the movies and although I like them, it is not the same as reading the books. I'm going to read the unfinished tales soon, in English. I will first check out this forum. I've never been in a place with other Tolkien fans

Thank you, Synariel. My girls are almost 9 and 5,5 years old. The eldest knows about hobbits etc. but she didn't idee the movies yet. Maybe we're going to watch the Hobbit next weekend. I'd like to learn some elvish. Do you have a suggestion where to start?

Welcome to the forum Thenidiël! It's wonderful to see a newcomer. Sounds like a lovely family you have, we are pleased to have you here as well. About learning Elvish, one other guy and myself actually just started a thread in the Language section for learning Elvish. (Sindarin) We are going to try and do a phrase a week or so. Something manageable time wise. Check it out, we would love to have some more participants! Hope to see you around the forum.

Le suilon Thank you for the warm welcome. Ni 'lassui! I will check out the language section! I won't be able to spend much time here, during the day. (Work, kids etc). And I'm in a different time zone . But see you soon!

No worries Thenidiël, myself and the other guy are also in similar situations. We are not planning on it being extensive, for the sake of time restraints in our own lives. Looks like you probably know more than I do anyways, maybe I can learn something from you.

@Jax Nova: I think that's great that you guys are starting a Sindarin thread! I will be visiting it myself, as I want to learn more elvish too. @Thenidiël: There are a lot of great sites for learning elvish! ^^ These two are good places to start http://your-sindarin-textbook.realelvish.net/quenya101.com/elvish-course/ And then of course Arwen's page is really useful for some quick phrases you can use with friends.
