Mae govannen Améilhie! Bienvenue! Your presence blesses these fine halls! May you enjoy your read through the Lord of the Rings! I'll look forward to hearing your opinions from reading it!

And it looks like you have a good command of the English language... much better than mine of France. I was over in France in July 2014. Enjoyed a few days in Paris, including Bastille Day, and a coupe days in Lille, and took a fun if somewhat hurried rental car drive to Roeun and around Normandy. Hope to get back again sometime.

Again, Welcome! May you visit and post often!
:)

Salut, Améilhie! :bye2: J'ai étudié le français à l'école mais j'ai oubilié beaucoup. :P My name is Taurquende, and you can call me Taur for short. :) I hope you'll make yourself at home here, and share some of your music with us! I'm a musician too, trying to finish my college degree in music, and I'd love to hear Tolkien's poems set to music. :-D

Yes, much to see! So much deep history! I didn't even scratch the surface when I was there. I do plan on returning. My family roots are from Strasbourg so do want to visit there. Also, want to get back to Fromelles where a relative who was killed in world war 1 and has been missing in action was recently identified and lay to rest. And also, Castlefest in the Netherlands is something I want to attend ... hope I have more time when I come over, and hopefully my French is much improved, and I knock the layers of rust off my modest German language knowledge.

And as Jax says, as an English first language speaker/writer, I've many bad slang habits stemming from my corner of America and the last decade living in Australia.

Again, welcome, and look forward to your writings here on the forum!

Thank you, although truthfully I had to double-check it with a translator app. No, sadly my real name isn't Taurquende, but I've gone by that name here on the forum for a looong time. It means "forest elf" in Quenya. :)

Thanks! I don't compose very much, though I've been meaning to try it more; but it's such an arduous process, it's easier to play things people have already written. :P My main thing is playing the bassoon in orchestra, and sometimes in chamber music if I have to.

*brief Strasbourg nerd out* I want to see Strasbourg so badly! and the Alsace-Lorraine region in general. It looks like such a beautiful and quaint part of the world, and just my cup of tea. French elegance plus German practicality? Yes, please.
