Post subject:  What are the requirements for Filipino couples to get marrie

Hey, me and my partner are both Filipino and thinking about getting married in Georgia. We have no idea what documents or legal requirements we need to meet. Do we need to get anything translated or authenticated before arriving, or is it handled there? Any tips would really help.

You need valid passports, birth certificates, a certificate of no impediment or single status, and divorce or death certificates if applicable. All documents must be translated into Georgian and notarized. Some couples also need an apostille for documents from the Philippines. You will register the marriage at the local registry office. There are requirements for residency, but usually just a short stay is enough to process everything. For a full overview and official details on requirements, you can check requirements on https://wedding-in-georgia.ge/ where they list documents, translations, and steps to follow so Filipino couples can prepare properly and avoid delays.

Thanks, that helps a lot. Do we need to book the appointment in advance, or can we just show up at the registry office? Also, is there any limit on how early we can submit documents before the actual ceremony?

It’s better to book an appointment to avoid long waits. You can submit documents a few days before the ceremony, sometimes up to a week, depending on the office. Make sure everything is properly translated and notarized before submission. Double-check the office hours and any local holidays. If anything is missing, they usually give you a short window to provide it. Planning this ahead keeps the process smooth and stress-free.
