I agree, I don't think Christopher Tolkien would ever sell the rights. His father and mother have Beren and Luthien carved on their tombstones; it's even more personal than LotR, in fact probably downright sacred.

I would love to see it but you might have to have a movie leading up to it.

But a fan made movie like Born of Hope would be done better, story wise.

Well, despite the odds, I would support a Tolkien movie of any kind, so long as it's done right.

I would LOVE that, I would love a mini series with all of Tolkien's works on Middle Earth, Sillmarillion, short stories, the whole thing, but of course, is an opium dream by now

I'm just wondering... would it be legal if some fans made a movie, like of something in the silmarillion, and posted it on the internet but didn't charge for it?? Like, was it legal for them to make Born of Hope and Hunt for Gollum?

^ You'd have to look up the copyright laws, but I think it would be okay if you weren't making money on it.

It would be easy to do. Just do a mini prolouge about the Silmarils and how they came to be, a little backstory on the main characters and then adapt the chapter about Beren and Luthien, and a possible epilouge or cut it down into two movies? As for leads, Micheal Fassbander has my vote for Beren and either Julia Stiles or Natalie Portman can be Luthien...but thats just my opinion.
