I personally read Eragon before LOTR. But right after I read LOTR for the first time and then reread Eragon I saw lots and lots of parallels. The most obvious ones not being Eragon and Aragorn, and Arya and Arwen, of course. And the Eragon movie was basically trash, in my opinion. I spent the entire time in the theater telling them exactly what they did wrong.

^ I love doing that to movies. Even ones I like.
It's like "oh, a blooper here, this is wrong in the book... oh, look his arrows changed color..."

Oh really? I thought the battles were pretty well-done. NOT LOTR of course, but still.

yeah and that battle went for, what 2 minutes?
personally i thought the Eragon book (and movie) had more similarities with Star Wars IV then with LotR.

That could be somewhat annoying

Yeah, my mom went with me and two of my friends (who also loved the book) and I don't think we were quiet for more than two minutes the entire time. Probably the only time they were actually quiet was when Eragon had his shirt off. And then Mom said afterwards she was surprised an usher didn't come and kick us out. teehee

I didn't like the fact that it was sooo much like LOTR, and that they just copied it! LOTR was made first And also there is another two more films of it to come out!
LOTR rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've read Eragon books and they're better than the movie! -the movie is good only because of Ed Speleers!! I believe that the author has taken ideas from Tolkien but after all, almost all fantasy books authors are influenced by Tolkien...
