I didn't say I don't want PJ to do it, I only said I thought it was a bad career choice. I definitely want him to do it.
Think about it, though. How many people around you still like Lord of the Rings as much as we do?Most are getting tired of it. PJ made a fortune doing LotR, and a lot of people would, I think, critisize him if he made the Hobbit- saying that he's just trying to tap into the cash again because King Kong didn't do as well, or that he just can't let go of Hobbits, or something like that.
Also, it's really anticlimactic. Yes, a lot of the ticket sales came from us fans, but a lot of them came from interested movie-folks, too. RotK ended with a bang, eleven Oscars, everyone everywhere walking out of the theater in tears...so can you imagine going back to the very beginning, after an ending like that? Too anticlimactic.
All that said, I think it would be really fun if the Hobbit got made.
