...As the movies went on? After reading a topic on best movie, I really wanted to hear everyone's opinion on this one. DO NOT GET ME WRONG. I AM NOT RAGGING ON PJ. I LOVE HIM AND HIS WORK ON LOTR AND WOULD NOT CHANGE IT. THIS IS JUST HOW I FEEL AND THE CONCLUSION I CAME TO LONG AFTER THE ROTK EE EDITION. In that thread I said, "FotR Extended Edition. No Contest. Truest to the books and was the most Tolkien-feeling of the all three. They got more and more PJified as they went on. Nothing wrong with that, but I didn't LOVE the others like I did and do Fellowship." For me it feels like the movies went, FotR- 90% Tolkien Feeling/ 10% PJ TTT- 50% Tolkien Feeling/ 50% PJ RotK- 10% Tolkien Feeling/ 90% Tolkien I think that towards the end PJ got way too carried away with the "this is my version of LOTR now." I readily accept the Elves at Helm's Deep now because I love Haldir and it was just too kool. Sometimes I even forget that PJ made this part up. But, by RotK it just got ridiculous with Arwen/Anduril/and all the cutting up of the story. I haven't watched them all in a long time because I didn't want them to get tired, but I know there are tons more. I think FotR deserved Best Pic and Ian Best Supporting for Gandalf the Grey. Not that I didn't root for RotK. It just felt, I dunno, too easy. Like it was too predictable. I mean am I crazy or does anyone feel me on this one? |

I think FotR deserved Best Pic and Ian Best Supporting for Gandalf the Grey. Not that I didn't root for RotK. It just felt, I dunno, too easy. Like it was too predictable. Ther was some dramatic liscense taken. I thought elves at Helm's Deep was cool!! Yes, the Arwen / Ring connection was a bit over done. And Yes, Aragorn should have carried Anduril from the beginning of the quest. As for the Oscar's (Academy Awards) it was a given, and deservedly so, that ROTK would get what it got, because PJ had been snubbed as Best Director for the first 2 films, and I think the academy just said he deserves it, but not for each film, so award him for the whole collective project. |

If I may.... My thoughts on what went wrong in the movies: 1. Too much Arwen/Aragorn kissing stuff. They didn't need quite all of that. 2. They shouldn't have had Arwen saving Frodo. I think they should have kept it so Gil-whatever (sorry, I just can't remember the rest of his name) took him to Rivendell. 3. The whole thing when Elrond delivered Anduril. 4. The Elves at Helm's Deep. (not that I mind more Haldir, but whatever). 5. Not that they could help it, but I would have loved to see Tom Bombadil. 6. I also would have liked to see Eowyn and Faramir walking in the garden. 7. I have to re-read a bit of the book, but I'm not sure exactly how much goes on between Eowyn and Aragorn. yeah. |
