I was wondering about that line that Boromir made and couldn't help wondering if Faramir ever said that to Boromir. As his younger brother, Faramir probably thought really highly of Boromir and probably thought that Boromir could be king. It was just something I thought of.

Interesting thought! I can see it happening, for the reasons you gave. Would give an interesting history to the quote.

It seems too personal because it reaches to that King. Faramir does admire Boromir but not to the extent to wish for his brother to go outside the laws of the true line of kings and stewards.

I agree with Ktoky. Farmir was loyal to Gondor and to the rightful Lordship. He loved Bromir an d admired him, but not to that extent

He would probably hope for Boromir to become the Steward of Gondor one day should Boromir had still been alive and the King was not able to rise up or something drastic occured.

It may be that in Faramir's eyes, Boromir was a King - because his men would do anything for him, he was loyal, brave and an all round good man.

But most probably, it was Boromir who first said those words.

Yeah, we don't want to make Boromir seem like a cheap expression-stealer. :p

I don't think Faramir would say that to Boromir. I know he respected his brother very much and would have died for him but somehow it doesn't sound like Faramir.Image

Yeah, I don't think Faramir would have said that, I think it's just something Boromir said, but heck, everything is possible!

I don't think that Faramir would have said the "my king" part, since Boromir wasn't king at that time and it wasn't likely that he was gonna become king anyways..

It really doesn't sound like something Faramir would have said....

I think that Boromir say it because after the accident with Frodo, He knows how weak he was. and he began to understand that Aragorn was the king. or it was maybe that he would say "sorry" because he say in the council of Elrond that Gondor had no king...
just what I think...
