I've heard that Elves don't, and that Oralndo never blinks in the 3 movies. But in the council of Elrond, Hugo Weaving blinks several times. Is that a mistake, or do Elves blink?

I think Orlando does blink, I'm sure I've seen him do it. I'll have to watch the movies again to check! lol

I'm sure I've heard that they didn't... Oh well, I guess that just goes to show that you can't believe everything you hear! :P

It isn't nice for us though. Your eyes feel HORRIBLE after it -incredibly dry and irritated.

LOL, my sister sleeps with her eyes open, and it really freaks me out. You'll walk into her room, where she's lying in her bed, and her eyes are wide open, yet she's asleep! I feel like Pippin everytime I see her doing that. :-D Of course, I'm not doing anything as mischievous as Pippin was when he saw Gandalf asleep with his eyes open. *inncocent look*

I think elves do blink. I think I have seen Legolas blink a few times.
And I would never be able to sleep with my eyes open! I couldnt ever fall asleepy. Haha I dont understand how people could fall asleep with their eyes open. Its cool though!

Aerlinn, my sisters been that way ever since I can remember. She says she falls asleep with her eyes closed, but then they open while she's sleeping. I don't get how that works, though... Maybe she just doesn't know what she's talking about! (Which is entirerly possible! :P)

hobbit_fan, I've never noticed Orlando blinking. Granted, I haven't been looking that hard... But if he does blink, then he doesn't do it as often as most people.

I know for humans, you have to blink or your eyes will dry out, and blinking just adds more liquid or whatever.

I'd assume that unless elves have some special other way of keeping their eyes from drying out, then they would blink, too.

I'm pretty sure Elves blink. I've never heard that or read that they don't.

I just watched FotR the other day, and as the Council of Elrond was about to start, I told my sister to be on the lookout for blinking elves. Of course Elrond blinked almost immediently. That got me a strange stare from her. :P

Point being: Yes, elves do blink, in the movies anyway.

Well, Elves have other "super human" powers (like walking on snow, etc.), so I don't see how that really makes a difference. But I've already resigned myself to the belief that Elves do blink. :-D

LOL, ~RinielAranel~! I got those same looks from my dad when I told my sister, "Hey! Elrond's blinking!". :P

No, I've certainly seen Hugo Weaving blinking. But I've never seen Orlando. If someone could point out a part where Legolas blinks, that would be highly apprecaited! :)

I'm planning to do a marathon with my friend next week, I'll keep a sharp eye out (or a weather eye on the horizon, whichever you prefer :P) and let you guys know!

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a marathon? (I mean, I know what I marathon is, I just don't know... Well, you get the point! :) )

Anyway, thank you! Just make sure you don't blink as you keep that weather eye out! :P

A marathon is when you do one thing continuously for a long time. For instance, an LOTR marathon would be watching all three movies one after another, on the same day.

LOL, I won't, I promise! :P

Ooh! I've been wanting to have an LotR marathon recently, I haven't had one yet this summer. I'll have to watch for Legolas blinking...

Well, all you have to do is watch fotr, and then watch Legolas as he goes through the snow, and if anyone thinks he's not blinking then maybe they need to blink a little more.

Very interesting discussion. I haven't noticed it, but then again I don't look for blinking elves. I would watch the DVD right now but I'm going out tonight so I don't have time.
