^It was Fran Walsh, apparently she had a throat infection but the sound department asked her to make the noise anyway (just to show them how she wanted it to go) but it sounded really creepy so they asked her to do it some more. ![]() |

The growling/groaning/breathing of the balrog was just a big block of cement being moved along another one. That's on the special feautures-alot of people already know that. |

Ok that was random and funny ![]() Ok ok I got one -The Cave Troll's hoarse breath was made by blending the recorded sounds of a tiger and a lynx. I dont know what a lynx is but uhm...cool ![]() ~Alane~ |

Darn, you beat me to the cave troll. ![]() ![]() A lynx: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynx ![]() In TTT, when Saruman walks out on his balcony and his army is chanting, they went out to a baseball game as asked the entire stadium to chant black speech. |

I heard that they could hardly get that whole crowd to chant the same thing for very long because people kept yelling, "We love you, Peter!" and other stuff. That would be an interesting thing for Saruman's army to say! ![]() And about the cave troll: I think the inhale sound was a lynx, and the exhale was the tiger. Soooo cool! Oh, and those orcs that came in right before the cave troll had voices of a pig dog. Never heard of a pig dog before but that's what they said. (Shrugs) |

That's really cool. The only one I knew about was the stadium. What about the various horns? Did they actually have horns to make those sounds? |

Y'know for the Nazgûl screeches, they could have just used the noise of a subway train screeching to a halt... every time I roll down to Toronto and I hear the trains' deafening screeches, all I can think of is Nazgûl ![]() |

All the arrow sounds for Helms Deep were recorded in a graveyard and were made by firing cardboard arrows at targets. Ironically the best sounds came from misfires..... And the Mûmakil's foot stomps was actually a cement block being dropped from about 50 feet up |

I love making noises... but my best one is a parrot, sadly. I can't go high enough for a Nagul screech. |
