Hey everyone, this e-mail literally just came into my inbox: "EW.com's Hollywood Insider just received word from New Line and MGM that everything has been resolved in The Hobbit debacle between Peter Jackson and New Line. Jackson will executive produce the pic for a 2010 release, but the studios are still in search of director. Production on The Hobbit will begin immediately, though no script has been written, which means they will have to work around the strike. A rep for MGM says, "This is a slamdunk for everybody." For more information, please go to: http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2007/12/ ... son-t.html As always, please feel free to use this story in your coverage, but as usual, please link back to EW.com at the link above as well as credit EW.com where possible. Thanks and best- Karyn" |

Well, I'm really excited about this!! I'm really glad that New Line and PJ sorted out their differences. That's always good. Kind of sad that he won't be directing, but in the New York Times Article that I read, it said he and Fran would be doing just about everything else. Mwa ha ha ha ha! XD Anyway, here's the like to the article that I read: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/19/movies/19jack.html?_r=1&oref=slogin |

My brother told me this a little while ago, I'm happy and not happy. I am DELIGHTED that PJ will have some part to play in the making of the Hobbit - let's face it, last year we were all told there was no hope that new Line would even speak PJ's name again. As executive producer he will have some say in what goes on, and if WETA were to be loyal to him, and not have anything to do with the Hobbit had PJ been snubbed by New Line, I would love to think they will now play a part in the making of the film. And we all know the time and dedication they put into everything they did, I have no doubt they will do everything brilliantly. I am disapponted that PJ will not be director - but never say never eh? Last I heard Sam Raimi wanted to do it but only if PJ would be producer and that seemed a dead cert. I am hoping that there is still some sort of argreement going on and that perhaps PJ will direct. |

I'm not to fond of Raimi though. I thought the last Spider-man was... ugh... dare I say it? I don't know if he's the right person to direct it. |

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disapointed that Peter may not be Directing (Never say Never). Sam Raimi has been linked with the project for some time now. I think with Peter, Fran and likely Philippa's guidance he could really make this work. Of course I'd rather have Peter directing, what LotRs fan wouldn't? But Sam is as good a choice as anyone. He's also stated that he's a huge Tolkien fan, so that's a good starting point at least. Bringing in someone that's at least familiar and appreciative of Tolkiens books is way better than just bringing in any old person. I'm more on the positive side of the fence. I have some doubts and concerns. But at this stage the positive feelings outweigh the negative. |

Also I can just see the hill that hobbiton was filmed on from my house, So I will be keeping an eye on it. I've been hearing about this two films idea and I don't like it... Tolkien didn't write five books! He wrote four! Unless they're going to use story from the end of The Silmarillion (which I don't think would make a particularly good movie) then it's just going to get stupid. I don't want them to turn this into another Star Wars franchise where it just gets more ridiculous with prequels and out of order films. But you can see that hill from your house?! That's very neat. If they film there perhaps you'll be able to hop over and get some autographs or maybe even be an extra! Does anyone know if they're are going to use Ian Holmes? Because they better... I know he's getting older, but are they really going to be able to get someone that looks enough and sounds enough like him? |
