can be from the books or films
from the films mine is:
FRODO: I can’t do this, Sam. SAM: I know. It’s all wrong. By rights we shouldn’t even be here. But we are. It’s like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And sometimes you didn’t want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy. How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened. But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn’t. Because they were holding on to something. FRODO: What are we holding on to, Sam? SAM: That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for
and from the books
Wild fantasies arose in his mind; and he saw Samwise the Strong, Hero of the Age, striding with a flaming sword across the darkened land, and armies flocking to his call as he marched to the overthrow of Barad-dûr. And then all the clouds rolled away, and the white sun shone, and at his command the vale of Gorgoroth became a garden of flowers and trees and brought forth fruit. He had only to put on the Ring and claim it for his own, and all this could be. The Lord of the Rings Sam, Chapter 'The Tower of Cirith Ungol'.

Merry: Wait! We're coming too! Pippin: Anyway, you need people of intelligence on this sort of mission... quest... thing! Merry: Well, that rules you out, Pip.
You can't get any more classic than that. But I also love Sam's speech in TTT, orangeblossom. It gets me every time.

This is a long one! ARWEN There is still hope.
ELROND [Walks towards window and looks out] If Aragorn survives this war, you will still be parted. If Sauron is defeated, and Aragorn made king and all that you hope for comes true, you will still have to taste the bitterness of mortality. Whether by the sword or the slow decay of time, Aragorn will die. [Arwen sees a vision of her future as Elrond speaks. She is dressed as a queen in mourning garb and looking down upon Aragorn, a crown on his brow, Andúril in his hand, and dead. Mourners are walking around the altar, paying their final respects. Arwen is weeping.] ELROND And there will be no comfort for you. No comfort to ease the pain of his passing. He will come to death, an image of the splendor of the kings of men in glory undimmed before the breaking of the world. [The body of Aragorn is now cast as a monument in stone. Arwen stands before the monument, veiled and in black.] ELROND But you, my daughter, you will linger on in darkness and in doubt. As nightfall in winter that comes without a star. Here you will dwell, bound to your grief, under the fading trees, until all the world is changed and the long years of your life are utterly spent. [Still veiled in black, Arwen is walking alone through the deserted woods of Lothlórien.] ELROND [Tuning to Arwen] Arwen... there is nothing for you here, only death.

Well this is at least two Gandalf quotes I really like. First one: “Many that live deserve death. Some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Do not be too eager to deal out death and judgement. Even the very wise cannot see all ends.”
And the other: "End? No, the journey does not end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take"
They both are so very true.
Oh! And of course I can't forget Bilbos quote: “I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as you deserve.” I don't know how many times I've read it, I still can't figure it out xD

My favourite is:
GIMLI: Never thought I’d die fighting side by side with an elf. LEGOLAS: What about side by side with a friend? (He looks down at Gimli and smiles. Gimli looks up at him.) GIMLI: Aye! I could do that.

Ooh this is hard. I love Merry's speech to the ents and Pippin at/after the Entmoot, Sam's tales that really mattered speech, where Legolas goes "What about side by side with a friend", and Aragorn: "My friends, you bow to no one"

"For Frodo."
Such a short sentence, and yet it carries so much.

I like a lot of quotes from LOTR, but I especially love Sam's line: There's some good in this world Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for. That one's really inspiring.

Such a short sentence, and yet it carries so much. Agreed! My favourites: -Merry's "the fires of Isengard will spread" speech -obviously Sam's "the tales that really mattered" speech -Boromir's last words ...that's all I can think of right now!!

"I am no man" by Eowyn. "No parents should bury their child" by Theoden. "The sea calls us home" by Elrond.

^I love the Eowyn one. Also Gandalf's (I'm quoting this from memory sorry for mistakes) "So do most of us that were born in these times. But that is not for us to decide. It's what we do with the time that is given to us."
