He dis an excellent job as saruman. If you watch the behind the scenes stuff he seemed like a really likeable guy so to turn around and play the bad guy shows talent.
He also played a bad guy in starwars eppisode two. I dont know what other rolls he played in other movies.
I guess the guy brought some good stuff to the camera, though.
It is nice that he at least got to participate in the hobbbit trilogy before passing. Quite a legacy with kust those three movies and LOtR
He's played Dracula a bunch of times as well as Frankenstein's Monster and quite a lot of other horror films from the past. Been in a Bond movie, Sleepy Hollow, Mio My Mio, the new Willy Wonka film and the list goes on because he's been in like way over 200 films. He also provided smaller voice roles in The Corpse Bride and the new Alice in Wonderland.
For me, the most memorable thing about his performance in the LotR trilogy (behind the scenes) was when Peter Jackson was trying to coach him on how he should die after Wormtongue stabbed him and Lee simply said "no, that's not how you would die from a stab wound like that" because Lee was in World War II and saw a lot of people die in reality and Peter sort of just backed off and let Lee die how he KNEW someone would actually die in a situation like that. He was also the only cast member to have actually met Tolkien himself and long before he was cast as Saruman he'd read the trilogy once a year for a very long time and he'd often give his imput on things during filming because he'd carry his own copy of the books around and quite honestly, without him a lot of the scenes would probably be very different. He wasn't just Saruman, he was an extended voice of the real Tolkien and the original story.
