Yeah I was sick for a couple days and we don't have internet at the house. Otherwise been hanging in there. Saw that you said that you are having a baby girl, congratulations!

The trailer for the second one looks good as well.

Ah, gotcha. Well, keep hanging in there. :)

Yeah, we are not sure yet but we might get rid of the internet at our house to save on bills. That would leave me phone data only.

I haven't even got to watch it yet. Again, no wifi when I have the time to watch anything. Once I get home I hardly have time to do much.

That was pretty cool! I really dont think any sprt of a nation can do justice to any creation story. It is too complex and wondrous of an idea for us to comprehend. However, they ddid a good job with it as far as it goes.

I should really like to see a Silmarillion TV show, though. O my word that would be amazing!!! It'd be SO long too! All the real fans (meaning not fangirls although I'm sure there's a place for at least one hot actor) would be so hyped!!! Oh, im getting hyped just thinking about it!!! :bounce: I honestly don't know how they would handle people like Feanor though, who is hard to put on either the bad or the good list.... Idk, a really good director would be able to handle it. (I really don't want it to be pj though. His rendition of the hobbit kind of scarred me for life.)

True True, Healic. Any real world setting makes it hard to capture the fantasy behind a book like Tolkien's.

I know! I would be SOOO hyped up to see a Silmarilion show or anything! I was supper hyped about the Beren and Luthian book as it is!

That was a pretty good 8 minute short. Well done.

As for a 'Silmarillion' TV mini-series, I think it could be done if the right people do it (not PJ & Co). Could do season series on the tales like Gondolin, Feanor, Turin, etc. It could work if it was based on good acting and not too heavily reliant on CGI. But there would be the detractors and I can't see the execs and financial backers allowing quality free reign on production, which would lead to shortcuts, which would lead to mediocrity. Still, one can hope.

I agree.

I would not be %100 opposed to PJ doing it but I would like to see someone do it who would stick stricktly to the book and not take so much artistic license.

If done in a seriese of shows it could make for my all time favorite tv apearance of amy kind ever possibly. If done right. Which granted would be hard but it would be SO worth the effort.

I think if PJ got his hands and more specifically, his ideas, onto Silmarillion that would be the worst thing ever. There's just basically everything he would ruin, because of the Hobbit and just his way of trying to get into Tolkien's place which makes me feel this way. But if there's the right people doing it (I don't know who they might be) and doing it in a series format, that would be good.

There's still a million things to go wrong with making the Silmarillion into a film or into a series, because I've imagined some people there like Fëanor and Valar and probably everyone in the book in a certain way and the movie would in all cases be against that. That might be a good thing because then I would have two versions of my beloved book if that series would be created, but anyways and anyhow I'm a little alarmed by these rumours.

That Ainulindalë animation is a bit too glitchy and documentary-ish for my liking, but it's not my business to go crazy and start nagging about it, so I guess I'll just let it be.

I know I've said it over and over and over through the years, but what really 'grinds my gears' (pardon the 'Family Guy' reference) is the whole synonymous thought of 'Peter JAckson' and 'Middle Earth'. There has to be others out there who are not B-grade horror film directors that know and love Tolkien. The fact that 'Peter Jackson' always seems to come up when 'Middle Earth' is mentioned really does grind my gears.

I agree with you, Hanasían, PJ's may be synonymous to Middle-Earth and own it in a way because he's famous for his (questionable) movies, but he has no place in Arda. I mean that he has his version of Middle-Earth but it's a different place compared to what Tolkien created in the first place.

Yes, it is just a big-budget silver screen fan fic. Nothing. More.

So..... how about a Children of Hurin mini-series???

That would be good, but then again with the random right people doing it. I think if they would cast some "unknown" actors that would be even better because then there'd be no "oh that's Agent Smith!" kind of confusions. Of course actors have their right to be in any films but it would be a little better with not so known faces.

I think one of the bigest problems is that any time you turn a book into a movie you simply can not accomplish or capture the lengths of the reader's imaginations.

I completely get your point Nienor. There are certain things about the book that if they did not get very much like I imagined I would be quite disappointed.
