Post subject:  Ultimate Middle Earth Collection is coming
Has anybody else seen the Middle Earth ultimate collection that is coming out around the 1st of November? They first put a price tag on it of a whopping $800 and now they have taken 10% off so it is priced at $720 but such a price is ridiculous I think that is way too much money for probably 95% of The Lord of the Rings fan base to afford. It's not that people don't have $800 to spend but who has $800 to spend on movies they already own and there's nothing new to watch no no extras no new deleted scenes everything is something most of us already own and I just think that is a rip off by the Warner Brothers company.

For me to buy there would have to be plenty of extra footage and deleted scenes that have never been seen before Plus maybe real nice hardcover editions of the books and if they threw that in I could see maybe paying $350 but that's it.
I am a Middle Earth fan through and through and always will be but I will never fork out the money that they're asking for this I think it's ridiculous. Does anybody else have any thoughts, different opinions, ect.?

I had read something about yet another "collectors" edition coming, but I don't remember reading a price for it. I have to agree with your comments, I can't see many buyers at $700+ for it.

They would do this. I'm sure there's already a bunch of angry reviews on Amazon complaining. :lol: They are not shy, Amazon customers, as I found out when I was reading reviews, trying to decide to buy the original trilogy on Blu-ray. It really doesn't make sense unless you're a late comer to Middle-earth and don't own any of the films yet. It's really a good thing they didn't add any extras. The worst are editions that add in like one or two bonus features that are decidedly not worth respending money on things you already own. (I've done that a few times. "A fool and her money...")

In any case, you don't need to spend money to prove how much you love something!

That is such a true statement. I love Middle-earth, I love all the books related to it and I love the movies that are based on the books and I have a lot of inexpensive Middle Earth things set up in a room that put a touch of Middle-earth in my life that I get to see & enjoy every day and I sure don't need an $800 set of movies to prove to myself or anybody else that I love Middle Earth.

I agree. Hey sometime you should take some pictures of that room and post them in the LOTR Collectibles topic, if you want.

What the HECK kind of a price is that???? That is certainly absurd!


*takes deep breath*

This makes me quite upset in adition to astonished. That's an outragious price and on top of that I have kept myself from buying ANY of the middle earth movies ALL so I could wait to get this collection because I always knew it would happen eventually... And now there is no way on God's green earth I M going to ever be able to justify a price like that!!

All these years I've been waiting!!! YEARS!!!!

I will, for sure. I'm the kind of guy that would have one of each if Inhad that much spare cash... But I don't have much spare cash... Which is why I was waiting. I knew Inould want this and wouldn't be able to justify buying it if I already owned all the movies.

But I'm certainly going to get the extended cersion if/when I buy them.

Yeaj it seems like it... Which is agrivating... They have made tons of money off these movies, likenthey need to over price it that much. Even like $250 would be almost reasonible... But $800?? Heck NO!

Yeah, they will reduce it... eventually. They are definitely a thing of the past, but still well worth the money for the typical extended version in my opinion. Not the absurd amount they are asking for this new set.

Yeah I still enjoy the Extended versions. Watched some of the behind the scenes again yesterday. I just can't get over how much work they put into it. Stuff you will never notice in the movies like some of the details in the sets to some of the costume details. Viggo Mortenson just blows me away with how much he invested in his character from suggestions in his costume to details for his sword.

*nods* I know, I was really impressed with his investment into his character as well! He really went all out it seems.


But yes, the extended versions are just fine for me. Apparently this collection won't be in my library.

I have a friend who actually purchased it. It's currently on a pre-order sale for $200 off! So... only $600! What a friggen steal!

I suppose if you are a movie fanatic, a collector, and have a spare $600 in your pocket, it's a steal.... a steal for the seller! ;)
