Helge Fauskanger, the creator of the Elvish linguistic site Ardalambion, has written an idea and a treatment for a movie on another thing in the mythos, instead of the Hobbit or the Silmarillion: the Downfall of Númenor (Akallabêth).

The intro page is here: http://www.uib.no/People/hnohf/num-intro.htm and the actual treatment is here: http://www.uib.no/People/hnohf/numenor1.htm. What do you think? I'd like to see it, but it probably won't be made.

I would love it if they made this into a movie! There are only a few problems I have with it. To make a movie you must have an actor/actresse for each character, including the Valar. I don't think there is any actor or actress out there that could be anything like the Valar in my imagination. I think they would be the hardest to create on screen, because they all have different qualities and they are all so powerful that it would be impossible to find an actor or actress that would best fit the role.

I have already written a script, in the correct format, for The Akallabêth, and it was not easy. There is so little to work with dialogue wise. Anyway, as you may be able to guess I think it is an awesome idea! :bounce:

I think it would be a good idea, if it was done properly. There's enough tension in the plot for it to work - fans would just have to be prepared for a lot of poetic licence in terms of characters, dialogue and all that sort of thing.

It sounds very interesting, but it must be done correctly. I would be upset if it were a failure.

Oh yes, I'd definantly be upset too if it turned out to be a failure. You would need a director who knows LotR and the Silm inside out and backwards.

Oh, how awesome it would be for another middle-earth movie to come into making. I would start shaking with delight. I am not kidding I would shake. I cried of happiness once when I was talking LotR. it was just a few tears. But still, I would be so hapy!

oooooooohhhh i would love to see a Numenor movie so much! I read this guy's movie idea a while ago, and it just got me so excited, but then disappointed because he never finished it and that it will probably never come out (at least anytime soon.....)!

I'm pretty sure that the guy who wrote that "script" up of agreed, and said that it wouldn't be a good idea to portray the Vala onscreen - just too difficult. And it's just kind of better to keep them mysterious.

I have a problem with the Valar being cast though...If they were to be cast, they would have to be cast by no-named actors. Presumely British.
I would not want Jennifer Aniston as Varda.
