Ah, I wish my old friend did. She likes Kili too but I'm not sure if we're friends anymore.. My best friend is not interested a single bit about anything Tolkien and sometimes I wonder if she's really my best friend still. I wish I had a gazillion friends who liked LotR and who are bigger fans than I am. All I know in Elvish is like, Mae govannen, Namarie, Tevenyel and 'Go kiss an Orc!' I wish I would learn more, but I don't really have the time.

I have two best friends- one is an lotr addict like me (but not as much as me ) and the other, well, she knows literally nothing about lotr, and when I start talking about it, which is, like, all the time, she just kinda zones out.

I feel the same way. You've basically described how my two best friends feel about LotR.

Well, it's been ten years since I was in school (not counting upper secondary school or uni) but yeah, uh, it wasn't like anyone could help but notice my obsession with LotR. I've got Asperger's Syndrome, and when we like something we LIKE it. It's EVERYTHING. To a point where it's awkward, horrible, and I actually hate it. Take your image of someone obsessed with LotR and multiply it by ten, and you've almost got me. When someone is on that level it's impossible not to notice it. Everything I did had to do with LotR, to the point where my teachers gave me posters and whatnot they found at home (like in magazines) because they knew it'd make me happy and the people in the local movie store would say "yes we've got new posters" or "nope, no new posters at the moment" as soon as they saw me. I mean, I almost flunked a few classes because I'd get up at 3 am every morning for six months to watch TTT before school...
So for me there was no "telling" anyone, because they all knew. And I got bullied and called names for it, which to be fair I can sort of understand. I spent probably $1000 if not more on my obsession and at 14/15 that's a LOT of money. Looking back on it now I feel pretty horrible, actually, because that money could have been better spent, and I could have saved myself a lot of pain if I hadn't gotten so into the movies.
Right now? Well, my Asperger's is messing with me yet again and I can't watch the movies because I'd fall back into a deep depression and I'm not sure I'd be able to get out of it. I hate loving something so much it cripples me and almost makes me hate it, because I love it so much.
Hahahaha, long rant, sorry, it's just so frustrating when your feelings don't look like other people's feelings.
