it didn't really scare me. the only time i get a bit freaked out is when my friends pause the movie right as bilbo tries to take the ring in rivendell and you see the ugly face...a bit freaky

I don't think it is scary. I went with my cousin to watch FOTR when she was six and she didn't say me that it was scary. But well... it is true some people say it was scary, but only because they don't like orcs or nazgul.

I only remember that when I first watched FOTR I got a little scared when the Hobbits were running away from the Ringwraiths in the dark, and then when Frodo was jumping to the raft at Buckleberry Ferry. Also in ROTK when Frodo got stung by Shelob. I already knew that that was going to happen, but I guess that I was holding my breath a little. lol, but not so scared that I was closing my eyes or anything. I usually dont get scared in movies that much.

I saw the first movie when I was 11 and I didn't really find it scary. I didn't like the orcs much but that was more cause they were disgusting. I didn't have nightmares or anything lol. Actually I've never had nightmares from movies. Movies don't tend to scare me too much. Except for the parts when they (they being however it is in the movie) look into the tv or mirror or something and see the reflexion of something (that something depending on the movie of course). Like in Signs and The Grudge. That creeps me out for some reason. Mirrors terrify me. Luckily my computer is LCD or whatever so I can't see a reflexion. Otherwise I'd be really creeped out right now.

But I think it depends on who it is and what phobias they have. If I had a spider phobia than I think that I would be pretty darn scared of Shelob. And some people scare easier than others. My cousin got scared when she saw Monsters Inc. and played Clue on the computer. But then again she's a drama queen and probably just did it for the attention. She won't watch LotR, she's terrified.

I don't think that the movies, as a whole, were particularly scary - but there were some scary parts in it - like the chase with the Ringwraiths in FotR.

And don't get me started on Shelob :hide:

Some of the battle scenes were a bit icky - like the elf running into an Uruk's spike at Helms Deep, but all in all, I wouldn't say the rating needed to be higher than 12 (U.K.) or PG13.

Mind, I probably would have freaked out when I was 12 - I was a right chicken back then!

I really don't think it was scarry. The scarriest parts for me in each movie would be
FOTR:Seeing the ringwraith for first time(still not too scarry)
TTT: Cant think of any
ROTK:Shelob(she's scarry looking, but I am not afraid of her)

The freakiest part of all three movies is in the dead marshes when the corpse opens its eyes :confused2: *Shudders* In ROTK we were sitting behind an aracnaphobe(sp?) he was cowering in his seat the entire time Shelob was on. :-D
