"I voted for Boromir, but I thought that Theoden's death was also very heart-wrenching...So sad!"
Same here! I also thought Haldir's death was sad!
But I cried most when Boromir was killed.

Theodred's death was very sad, not for loss of him (because we never met him) but the effect it had on Theoden and Eowyn.
Theoden was also a very sad death, but it was bittersweet, since he died a noble death.

Boromir's was the saddest to me, but that's because I'm a Boromir & Faramir fan. :D Plus the last parts of his life were a tragic story - his falling to the ring.

Gandalf's death was never that sad to me 'cause I knew he'd come back. ;)

Theoden's death is the saddest death for me, because he reminds me a lot of my grandpa who died from a stroke on the day I went to NZ. Theoden's voice and face is kinda similar to my grandpa's so his death is the saddest to me.

I have to admit that I cry at Boromir's death every time. But Theoden's and Theodred's are really sad too *sniff*

Three way tie between Haldir, Boromir, and Theoden.

Yeah, I know, I'm pathetic. Trust me, I'm normally not that sad at character deaths - for me it's like "Oh, yeah, whatever, they died." It's a sign of my love of LotR that I almost cried when poor Haldy died :P

Gandalf, I wasn't that sad about because I knew he was going to come back.
Theodred...he doesn't get much character development, I didn't really care abotu him much.

Theoden's or Boromir's. :( though the music for Gandalf's when they all left the mines was touching..

Definitely Boromir's, closely followed by Theoden's and then Haldir's. I already knew that Gandalf didn't really die before watching the movies, so while his death was still emotional because of the Fellowship's reactions, it wasn;t as bad as some of the other characters'. Boromir's parting words were heart wrenching. "I would have followed you to the end.. my brother, may captain, my King." Who doesn't cry at that part? And then there was the fact that he died protecting Merry and Pippin. So brave.

I have to say Gandalf was the saddest, even though you know he will be back. The closing scene is almost as sad to me, because I know they won't ever be back.

One thing that made Theoden's death sad for me is when he said to Éowyn: I know your face. and immediately I remembered the happy time when he was restored by Gandalf in TTT in the Golden Hall. I didnt cry..but I know my little sis did.

Gandalf's was reeaally well done with the slow mo Aragorn and Frodo and then outside the mines and all... very touching. But for me I knew he was comng back so I wasn't so upset... =/ When I read it in the book I was soooooo sad. =(

The most touching the movies for me was Theoden. Eowyn fights for him and he still dies! *sob* yeah that death is really sad. =(
