Post subject: Stupid Things You Thought the 1st Time You Watched The Movie  Posted: May 5th, 2006, 8:27 pm |

I watched the movies before I read the book and the first time round I thought LOADS of stupid things like...
* When we first caught a glimpse of Merry and Pippin my cousin (Who'd seen the movie 1000s of times before) told me "That's Merry and Pippin!" I mistaked it for a GIRL called Mary-Anne Pippin.
* I thought that Treebeard was the term for his species
* I thought Boromir had come back to life when I saw Faramir.
* I confused Aragorn and Boromir and then when Boromir died I thought that
Aragorn had.
* I confused Galadriel and Eowyn
* I thought Denethor was Boromir's GRANDFATHER
* I thought that the Witch King was Sauron
* I thought that Aragorn was a Nazgul when he disguised in Bree
* I thought that Denethor was KING
That's how stupid I was when I first watched LOTR but now it Inside Out lol.  _________________

I thought the first time I have seen FotR (I've seen it before reading the books) that when Gandalf tells Frodo about Sauron and the Ring, that suddenly Sauron will come out of the one Ring!!!
And I mixed up Boromir and Aragorn the first few times I saw the movie!!!  _________________ <center>

At first I thought Gandalf was just a wizard like they are in all the other stories, ya know with their silly spellings like abracadabra or so and I didn't like Galadriel at first, because she turned green when Frodo offered her the ring. I simply hated Gollum and Faramir when I first watched TTT

It wasn't something I thought, but I could never tell which one was Merry, and which one was Pippin!

lol I know... I thought about why I didn't like her, but it really was the fact that she just stood there, turned green and said everything in such a funny voice

THis was one of my biggest problems as well  Their hair look so much the same, and in german their voices even sound equally! _________________ <center>

I agree with you guys on Merry and Pippin 
I for some reason couldnt tell Boromire and Faramire apart I guess Im not the only one. Now that I have seen the movies a billion times I really like and idiot because they look so different!

When I first saw FOTR in theatres it had been such a long time since I read the book I freaked out when Gandalf "died". I could remember him being in the other books and I was so confused. I also couldn't tell Merry and Pippin apart.

Oh I thought Sauron and Saruman were the same people!
I was like "Why do they have different names?"
Grr it's because they're names are so alike!

Once upon a time, long, long ago, when I didn't even know this movie my dad had rented was CALLED 'lord of the rings', I saw a part of TTT. I assumed Gandalf and Saruman were the smae guy, and confused Merry/Pippin withSam/Frodo

First time I saw TTT, I spent the entire movie trying to find Boromir. (I left FotR a little hazy)

I was one of those strange people who thought Merry and Pippin were twins, and I had no idea who Strider was until I read the books. It also took me forever to figure out Boromir and Aragorn were two different people.
And in TTT I believed there were physically two Gollums!

Actually I only cut in between when I saw the first one. I'd be doing something else, but reallly I didn't care much for characters at first just story. Nothing stupid, but I was watching the last 5 minutes and I'm like huh? Whys musts it ends likes thisS?

I thought it was really stupid in "The Fellowship of the Ring" when Gandalf tells the Balrog, "You cannot pass!" I was like, "Come on! This is so stupid...you think he's going to be able to stop that thing?" And then he did something really cool with his staff and I shut up after that.
