I hope this is the right place to put this...
Has anyone else seen the Bakeshi (sp?) film? I saw it, and then I showed it to my brother, and we both agreed that it was torture to the eyes. The rotoscope is...interesting, to say the least.
And the story died in the second half. I sort of love in a hate kind of way how at the battle of helms deep the music gets really triumphant even though they're surrounded by orcs...like, even the orchestra weren't sure what was going on.
It hurt my brain.

I watched the animated version of the Hobbit, I don't know if it's the same studio or not. It was quite strange. I'll just leave it at that. lol

I haven't seen the animated movies for many yrs but I grew up on those so i am a little attached to them. lol. My first taste of Middle Earth was the animated version of The Hobbit. But HEY you know what it got me hooked and so i love it for that even if its not good b/c it opened me up to the books which dragged me into line for Fellowship! oh the memories....okay i am bablling, rambling whatever... BUT i will say that i was extremely sad/mad/depresed when my bro recorded over The Hobbit...

I've watched half of the Bakshi... It was a bit strange I think, but okay. Was it made in 1979? M-o-T and I agreed that the Ringwraiths are far more scary than in the movies! They're really freaky! BUt I never got to watch the rest.
By the way - Boromir looks like a viking! Teehee!!! LOL!!!

Hee hee, Boromir DOES look like a viking.
I've seen part of the animated movies, until The Council of Elrond. Then Icouldn't take it! It was OK, I guess, for a first try. I still have no idea why Saruman was Aruman (Why did he look like Santa, lol?) or why the hobbits feet were bigger than their heads, and made of silly putty.

I saw it a while ago...very funny...my entire purist family sat and watched it, and every time they did something really outrageous, I'd grab the phone and call my friend. Really amusing...the ringwraiths were creepy. Early motion capture = migraines.

Oy vey. Bakshi's "LotR" is indeed, a migrane.
Boromir: Indeed a Viking.
Agagorn: *imitates Cowboys and Indians noises *
Legolas: Buck-toothed freako with Bambi eyes.
Elrond: All hail Zeus, king of the gods!
Eowyn: Eeeeheeeheeheehee!!! I'll get you, my pretty!!!
Celeborn: Live long and prosper.
Treebeard: Tree? I am no tree! I am a blanched carrot who loves spitting leaves everywhere!
S/Aruman: Dude, is it Aruman or Saruman...? They keep calling me both...
Balrog: AARUGH! RUN! It's the warhog/butterfly mutant!!!
Costume Design: Doesn't everyone LOVE guys running around in mini-skirts?
Gandalf: If I wave my hands melodramaticlly enough, do you think they'll let me play King Lear?
I could go on and on and on...

The Animated film is a disaster. I have seen it many times, and it's an embarrassment to filmmaking! Just the fact that they used real people and just sort of made them look animated is enough to make me queasy (and I LOVE animated films...)

Okay many of you directly hate the film! I thought it was okay and I love old animated films...
BUT! Disaster!
It's CELEBORN NOT SELEBORN!
right?

Right. In Sindarin, when a word starts with C, it makes a K sound.

The animated films...were....interesting. I loved them when I was little, but once the recent films came out they kind of seemed stupid. I guess it's the same with a lot of things right? Like u have a toy u looove, then a new better one comes out and suddenly the old one doesnt looks o great anymore. I guess the animated films were good for a first attempt though...
