I found a GREAT critique of the movie here --> http://flyingmoose.org/tolksarc/bakshi/bakshi.htm
I think the funniest thing it says is that whenever someone makes a point, they Milk the Giant Cow--put their fists in the air and yank.

Aside from sounding like a gecko with a sore throat, Aragorn also looks like Jackie Chan.

I saw the animated version so many years ago that I can't really remember it now. I was toying with the idea of trying it out again, but I don't think that I could even hope to compare it with the movies now.
The only memory that I have of that version is being annoyed that we only got half of the story. I asked my Dad where the rest was, and he said that it never got made.
The only comparison I can say now is that the Movies persuaded me to read the books, but the animated version put me off!

well i saw the animated version of the hobbit... lets just say i fell asleep before getting through half of the movie. Never finished it, cuz i hated it so much!! and the animation was horrendous. i must say, though, its a good movie for a 6 yr old on a rainy day. then it may be alright, because 6 yr olds never see the faults in movies.
but honestly, they should make a normal version of the hobbit. it was a brilliant book and it would make a great movie.
