Which hobbit was your favorite in the movies?

This was a terribly difficult decision for me, as they top my favorite characters list independently, but I'm going to have to go with Merry. I love his speeches in TTT especially about being "a part of this world" and needing to help, and the deleted RotK scene called Merry's Simple Courage is so touching. Merry needs more credit...too often he's just the other half of the Merry & Pippin friendship, there for Pippin to bounce jopkes off of. Merry needs more support! *hugs Merry*

Not that I don't love Pippin too. For a while he was my favorite. When you first love the movies, you just HAVE to love Pippin. He's the comic relief for the entire first movie, for crying out loud. He's so clumsy but funny and cute...everyone loves Pippin. And then in the third movie, his character really deepens. His friendship with Faramir is so nice, and he gets to save Gandalf's life. When he sings the song in The Sacrifice of Faramir it's really touching.

And of course there's Frodo. I just love Frodo to death. He's another overlooked character, often made fun of and ignored because he seems shallow or emotionless. Hmmm, I'd like to see you do better if you had the ring. Plus he has those big blue eyes. You've gotta love the big blue eyes.

And Sam...oh, I'm sorry you had to come last. *hugs Sam* What can someone say about Sam? His loyalness and bravery is mentioned to death, and he's just so overflowing in Sam-ness it rocks. Go Sam.

So, now it's your turn. Kill yourself deciding!

SAM! (My obvious choice...considering my name.) He is amazing, and no one else could be that loyal to someone who daily starts to deteriorate inwardly because of the onering. If he hadn't have been there, Frodo either would have become another gollum, and Sauron would have found the ring, or Gollum would have taken it, and Sauron still would have found the ring. In this way, it was Sam who saved Middle Earth! Go, Sam!

Pippin is really close behind, though. Gotta love the scottish accent. And the deepening of character when he saves Faramir. And the sad discussion in the EE he has with Gandalf about death. (I cried.) And the absolutely magnificent singing voice. Pippin rocks! (But Sam is still better...)

Bilbo is my favorite..he so kicks butt in The Hobbit! and he's neat, too, in the trilogy..

Frodo, hands down. Frodo is my favorite character period, let alone out of the four hobbits. I mean, he's Frodo. He carried the Ring to Mordor. He's just amazing. If I tried to explain all of the reasons why, I'd be here forever.

I do love all of the hobbits very much however. Each of them are special and lovable in their owns ways, many of which you listed. I think Sam might be my second favorite, because he seems to love Frodo as much as I do.

Hey. My vote made it one vote for each hobbit. Cool.

Now I'm happy that all of the hobbits have an equal score.

Oh... *agonizes for a good five minutes*
I think Pippin's my favorite. He's just so cute! And he's loyal and sweet. Maybe he's not the brightest blub on the Christmas tree, but I still love him to bits. Plus he reminds me of a very dear friend of mine.
(I think Sam comes in second)

My favourite is Frodo. It used to be Merry and I still like Merry a lot. But I kinda like Frodo better.

I like Frodo the best, because of the sacrifice he made when he accepted the burden of destroying the Ring. He knew that there wouldn't be any going back to his previous lifestyle--it was a life-changing experience, and not necessarily for the better. Without a doubt he is my favorite character, just because of his self-sacrifice.

Well then, I suppose out of these four hobbits..(poor Bilbo ) Mine is either Sam or Pippin.

I think Pippin's interesting mix of bravery and innocence is what makes me love him so much. ^^ Also his singing skill of course makes him extremely appealing.

Sam is a close scond though.
