^I adore both book and movie Arwen!

But Eowyn rox! I know a lot of people like her for the show-that-girls-can-do-anything-guys-can-ness, but I actually like how girly she can be.

she can be girly :) I don't think she's a boyish girl as some people say, because that says fighting and such is only for boys. but as she shows, it isn't, if you catch my meaning :D it's hard to explain. after all, boys don't wear dresses :-D

Yeah. Eowyn definitely has her girly side. The fact that she wears that gorgeous coronation dress is proof!

Wait, wait a minute... Now can't a girl swing a sword one day and want to wear a dress the next?In fact isn't it what modern women want to do? We want to be all-in-one. I think PJ wanted to acknowledge that fact of society today. He tries to nudge Arwen into the same box labelled Warrior Princess, but thankfully he thinks better of it and leaves it to her performance at Bruinen. If women fight like men and men are all too loving/caring/understanding we will end up unisexed or neutral gendered.

Along those lines I find it quite impossible to vote for either Arwen or Eowyn... To me Arwen represents compassion and love, but so does Eowyn, just in a different way. They both have their reasons for their actions. And I can easily relate to both. But I don't think PJ was completely fair to any of them.. though I do acknowledge the fact that both are minor characters.. *sigh*

hmm... true. but we can't end up neutral gendered without genetic engineering.. hihi, offtopic. sorry. for me, Arwen comes first naturally. I don't know why, but she's just so appealing to me. For me it's like if someone asks me whether I want to eat ice cream or salad, I'll take the ice cream. because it's special to me and I don't get to eat it every day. the speciality allures me :-D

Jeez! It's true that her coronation dress is awesome! People if you know how to sew that thing, think about me! lol!

I would say that I do prefer Eowyn, but you can't compare what's not comparable...
Arwen is a nice character too, but I just don't feel closer with her choices than Eowyn's...

PS: Porteuse de l'Anneau, Théoden is her uncle, not her father! ;)

Eowyn and Arwen have many similarities that people don't notice. They are both very strong women both in heart and in strength of arms, and they both have very beautiful stories.

Arwen's is a story of true love and sacrifices, while Eowyn's is a story of defying the odds and finding herself. Both women change drastically from the beginings of the movie and the books to shape who they are and to find their callings.

So, yeah, I love 'em both!

I second that. allthough I did vote for Arwen this time. I dont really know why they're both awsome!
