Post subject:  Ruined the magic?

Do you think in some ways finding out all the "behind the scenes" stuff kind of ruined the magic of the movies? It was really fun to learn about all the funny stories and relationships going on, and even cooler to see how they did the special and visual effects. But it seems like now when I watch the movies they aren't quite as spectacular because the entire time I'm thinking "That table's really six feet long" and "In this scene Orlando has a broken rib" and other things like that.

Your thoughts?

^haha yes it sorta wrecks the movie... but then we kind of learn some techniques by watching them (if anyone is interesting in filming) but ... yeah i guess it wrecks it for a lot of people ...

No the specials didn't ruin the magic of the movie for me. When I watched the movie shortly after watching the specials then maybe, but now I don't think of that when I watch the movie, because I watch the movie much more often than the specials.

^Yea same here. The specials dont spiol it for me that much. I dont mind...I like finding out about the techniques, and as haldir said cuase im interested in filming. and that thing were they took the hobbits and put them like2 feet behind someone. I did that witha camera I took a picture of two friends, angled the camera, and the person who was farthest away you couldnt tell she just looked tinyier..:D

Nah, I don't think it really ruined the movie for me. Personally, I thought it really interesting to see how everything was made, and the interesting stories behind the scene's. It just made me feel more into the movie.

really?? I think if I watched the specials more often then I'd maybe not be that fascinated by the movies anymore, but actually I don't have the time to watch the specials that often

I was a little disillusioned by all the tricks they did with the hobbits' heights, but I got over it. Now it doesn't bother me in the least - but I do tend to randomly spout our things like, "Orlando tried to do that himself and broke two ribs!" and "Aragorn broke his toe there," and "Legolas forgot to wear his contacts!"

It used to for me, but I just tune that out and concentrate on the movie. I've never watched the commentary, though. I couldn't stand it. I would always start watching the movie, but then couldn't focus because of the annoying voices... :P

I've caught on some commentaries by David Wenham, he's funny! I have this behind the scenes two towers book that's worth like $15, and it has behind the scenes footage. I want to know more, but ever since I've refused to read the minitures pages because I feel as if it'll spoil for me. If I ever become a director, I'm sure I'll have fun make minitures of things and making movies. Hopefully they look more real than the ones in Edward Scissorhands.
