Does anyone else feel that when Denethor is eating during Pippin's song, it sounds really greedy and not very nice at all.

It's like poor Pippin is really hurt but Denethor couldnt care!

aww.

That is my favorite song of the movie, any song where the actors sing is just amazing. I believe that was the point of the scene, to show Denethor's currption, that he now longer cares for anything or anyone beside his late son.

Exactly what I didn't say! But wanted to. just didn't.

I love the song and how they showed the battle of Osgiliath while he was singing it.

That was an amazing scene. And he makes poor Pippin sing when he his friend is riding off to his death, and his father doesn't even care. :(

I don't like cherry tomatoes now, all because of that scene. And that song is truly amazing.

It is definitely one of the heart-wrenching songs from that soundtrack. When that track comes up on my music playlist, I have to stop what I'm doing since I can recall the scene so vividly that it almost brings me to tears... :'(

When Denethor was eating, my first impression was it was the sounds of battle.... Bones crunching and all. I know gross but they kept flashing to the battle and it was the first thing that came to my mind as far as symolism goes.

I really love that song. I feel sooo sorry for Pippin in that part. I thought Denethor was so disgusting when I first saw it.

Such a touching scene, but I also couldn't help feeling sorry for Denethor. He is sitting all alone in his great hall of stone, unloved, because he has turned everyone who would care for him away. His mind is corrupted and he is despairing. That must be a horrible position. I want to believe that his heart is touched when he sends Faramir away, but he is so overwhelmed by grief over Boromir that everything in the world is already dead to him. I think even the way he eats symbolizes powerlessness and anger towards the things he can not change. It is the hardened, old man's way of expressing emotions he can't really show....

what i particularly love aboutit, is the fact Billy Boyd sings it and he has such a great voice, especially when he sings with his accent :)
