I am stressing out right now, something horrible has happened. I just bought the LOTR-FOTR soundtrack from this shop for $7.00, only it's a different title. It says "Music inspried by The Lord of the Rings". I knew it was the FOTR because it had all the same songs. This is a scan of the front cover:

Now, I've heard what the music should sound like because of the samples from amazon.com and my friend has the soundtrack. When I put it in to play, sure the songs are the same, but the instruments sound different!!!! The string instrument in "Concerning Hobbits" sounds like a church organ!!!!!! It took me weeks to beg my parents to let me by this, they won't understand if I need to buy the 'real' one from amazon for $15.00!!!!! I've lost the recite, and I feel horrible.

Don't panic....its ok. Everyone makes mistakes, and at least yours only cost u 7.00 instead of more!!! You said it sounds the same at first listen. That's good. Be happy with it for now, and save up any money you can get(i dont know if you get allowance or not) and soon enough you'll have enough to buy the real one! make sure you do your research this time though. You don't have to completely explain the situation to you parents. The covers of the CDs will be different, and so when you uy the real one, you can say they're different CDs...which they are so it won't be a lie. Don't stress over this, it's not worth it, and don't worry, with a little patience and some hard work you can get the real CD and then youll really feel like you earned it. If you don't get allowance offer to do extra chores, like mowing the lawn, for cash. Good Luck and I hope I helped a little!!

:bye2:

if it says "music inspired by..." it's never the real deal. it's either other people playing the original songs, or just simply music of the same type. and if it's a different cover it's not the real deal either. i don't think this CD is a bootleg since there are hundreds of thousands of real official "remakes" (if you will) of original songs and music.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... ce&s=music that's the one you bought!

this is the original CD:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... 83-4350353 and you can also buy it from the "new & used" section for like $8.00 or so

Thanks you three :) Ok, I think I'm a little bit more relaxed now, I see that I should have not been in such a rush, and yes I do get an allowence, thankfully. I will take your advice, save up my money and buy the real one. Oh well, at least I've learnt from my mistake, to take your time with important decisions. Thanks for reasuring me :-D

Yeah, that sucks. I once bought a CD for $7, and it really wasn't great. My words of advice to you are to
a) Make sure you know what the real CD looks like
b) Make sure it says the right things on the cover (Composed, Orchestrated and Conducted by Howard Shore, for example)
c) If it seems too cheap...it usually is.

Better luck next time!

But look on the bright side. Think of youself as a collector and this as an interesting and unusual addition to you collection.

Ask your firend/ someone you know if they'll burn the cd. It probably won't cost you anything.

Some times I download music from the net if I can't get it in a store or a few songs to listen to until I buy it . Usually not a whole album tho...but it can be done.

You could try to sell it maybe, and put that towards the one you want.

you don't get any good ones from over the internet, I can tell you that. I know because I've tried myself before giving up and buying the original soundtrack. return the CD for a refund first. you can find the soundtracks at any music store. I got mine from Wal-Mart
