I'm not sure if anyone has heard of the band Blind Guardian or not. They are a metal band, and most of their music seems to revolve around fantasy. Anyway, they have a whole album dedicated to Lord of the Rings called Nightfall in Middle-Earth. But it isn't based off of the Lord of the Rings books, but the Silmarillion and other stories from Middle-Earth. The album doesn't just include songs but also snippets of scenes. I was wondering if anyone else had heard of this album. For a Ringer rocker, it's totally epic to listen to! They also have a song from another album, but it's just one song, that titled "Lord of the Rings" and is also a very wonderful song! |

Yeah, I've heard of them... I think Arianna who was active here a few years ago was crazy fangirlish about them.. and she got me into at least one song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_tORtmKIjE The Bard's Song. It isn't from the Nightfall album but it's really good (and probably quite mainstream-ish. ) I'm not really a metal girl but perhaps I should give them another listen.. anything particular you'd recommend? |

I love the Bard's Song! Some of their songs are a bit too... metal for me. I like my light rock more. But if you like the Bard's Song, then you'd probably like Skalds and Shadows since it has the same feel as the Bard's Song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3_S1Q40HZo |

Yup, I liked it.. It has this bard-ish feel... although, I couldn't help thinking they forced the lyrics into the song.. and how other rock/metal bands or pop artists have done it more gracefully.. But a good song nevertheless. |

Is she still crazy fangirlish or has she calmed down at all? They also have The Bard's Song-The Hobbit, Majesty, and Harvest of Sorrow is about Turin. |

Hahaha yeah, she was crazed, and scary.. and bouncy.. and I loved her for it. Unfortunately, she seems to have vanished a couple of years ago.. and I never saw her since... Hopefully, she'll come back one day. |

wow, more Blind Guardian fans over here! Nightfall in Middle-earth was their first album I heard, and need I say, I fell in love! I have almost all their cds, many of them signed , and I have pictures with the band members as well!!! Blind Guardian rule! There are other metal bands regarding Tolkien, one for example, is Battlelore, they are from Finland. I wrote an entry about them in here http://tolkien-inspiration.blogspot.com ... earth.html. Hopefully I'll write something about the German bards one day! |

I've never heard of them, but I'll be sure to check them out! Metal's not usually my thing, but the album sounds interesting. Thanks for the suggestion, Eruraina! |

They are definitely my all-time favourite band, I've been a fan of them for about 8 years I think. They write songs on book series' all the time aside from LotR - Wheel of Time, Song of Ice and Fire, Stephen King novels, just to name a few popular ones... video games too. They are true bards. : ) Also there's already an open thread about this album : viewtopic.php?f=42&t=4651 although it is quite old. |

I am fan of Blind Guardian for 5 years. Of course "Nightfall in Middle-Earth" is one of my favourite albums, following "A Twist in the Myth". World of Tolkien can be found everywhere ^^ |
