:) Doesn't everyone love the song the dwarves sing in Bag End?

What do you like most about it, why?

"Far over the Misty Mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away ere break of day
To seek our long-forgotten gold"

:) Pure awesomeness and finally, real music in this world

This song is awesome! I was singing it for weeks after I saw The Hobbit. It has such a great feel to it, and I think that the background humming kinda adds to the mood as well.

I'm so glad that they included the Misty Mountains song in the movie. One of the big things in the books is all of Tolkien's songs and poetry, and it really does add a lot to the world.

I think that my favorite thing about the movie version of this song is that it starts out very simply, with just Thorin and then a few other dwarves singing. Then it gradually grows bigger and bigger and the splendiferous orchestra comes in (the orchestral version is amazing as well).
Also, it's a good way of introducing viewers to the story who may not have been familiar with the books. People are more likely to pay attention to a wonderful song than to a long-winded historical explanation.

The song really adds to the movie, and the reoccurring theme is pretty awesome. I know the whole thing(movie and book versions) by heart!

Two words.

Richard Armitage.

Best thing about it, closely followed by the humming and then the tune. Haunting melody.

Someone said to me that it was like a "lament for Erebor"

Good language, and something about the melody make me like it.

Probably one of my absolute favorite scenes in the Hobbit film and it's quickly become one of my top favorite soundtrack pieces, Hobbit and LotR combined. The song gives me so many chills. :D

While all the songs from the books would just have seem quite silly in the Lord of the Rings movies, in the Hobbit it just fit and I'm so glad they used this particular one as it was always my favorite lyrics when reading the book as a kid.

The humming before the actual singing starts... the dwarves' deep voices... it makes it so mysterious and amazingly beautiful.

This.

Couldn't agree more.

So beautifully done. It always seemed so bouncy when I read it in the books, and it finally has the emotion and depth that I felt it should! :D

It just stirs up a deep longing for Erebor and you feel Thorin's melancholy in losing his homeland. So many feelings.

It's just so deep and mysterious.
Like dwarves.
