I'm wondering who has gotten the chance to play this game? I got it when it came out (and it was actually the biggest reason I went and got a PS4, so that I could play it earlier). If you've played it, what are your thoughts?

I've enjoyed the game a lot. I'm a huge fan of the Assassin's Creed games, and Shadow of Mordor takes a lot of the gameplay and assets from Assassin's Creed that I really like and places it in Middle-Earth. Not to mention the boss system!

Bosses are randomized and so each playthrough is different with how you have to approach the bosses. You can go in sword blazing, or be stealthy and never be seen. There's also the skill you eventually get that allows you to mind control orcs, which is pretty cool.

Some of it, lore wise, I'm not sure of. But the basis seems sound. It takes place between the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, not long after Sauron is driven from Dul Guldor and returns to Middle-Earth. And one thing I thought was interesting was the identity of the wraith. Celebrimbor, the ring forger!

Sounds and looks pretty cool but I have not got a chance to play it.

Honestly the one thing I did not like about it was the cover... it looks... un-middle earth ish to me.

I have heard it's a really good game, though.

I think the cover is misleading. It does have a dark Middle-Earth feel. Down to the way they talk. They have that Middle-Earth accent (as I call it). Heh, Gollum even makes an appearance! Which in the books Gollum did spend some time in Mordor!

That's, in an odd way, good to know.

The cover, because of what I mentioned, was honestly a bit of a turn off for me. I am more interested in playing it now, though. lol

Is there a demo anywhere? That would be great to try it out and see what it's like before deciding on buying or anything.

I really loved this game. I got it for my husband for Christmas, but ended up playing it too. We would have to switch off who got to play when lol. It's the only video game, besides Lego games where you can't die, that I've ever beaten. I thoroughly enjoyed it. At one point my husband had almost all of the orc captains mind-controlled so it made it easy for him when he needed to kill off the war chiefs. I was jealous lol.
