I'm not any good at this level at all. I can do all the others but this one is really hard for me. I don't know what to do to bring down the overrun meter- is killing orcs or knocking down ladders more effective? And I've heard that it's not important to kill the fell beast- is this true?
Thank you!

Killing the orcs/uruk hai helps get the meter down, but knocking down the siege ladder helps a LOT more. It's not neccesary to kill the fell beast, It just helps. If you don't kill it, he'll slay the trebuchet engineers and you'll have to knock down the siege towers with your ranged attack instead of using the catapult to fell it. I hope this helps!

I hate this stage too. As the Gondorians always shoot at me, but why there are ropes for me to climb down, what are their usage?

The ropes are there to quickly get from place to place. Yes you can climb down them. They're basically there so that if theres an overwhelming amount of orcs (or you just don't want to fight them) you can just climb down and climb up to avoid battle. Personally, I have never used them and still beat the level.

Your gonna have to use the ropes when you slay the witchking to get to the eastern side of the topwall. It took me a while to beat this level with a guide, but I did it. I would just kill the orcs as you go by and let the gondorians do the rest-at least slash there armour. If there's a crowd, make sure you knock 'em down. I prefer concentrating on the ladders. When the first one comes up knock that one and the rest in the following order. When you see the trolls coming up go to the tower with the catapult. It takes two hits then go back down and slay some orcs and continue knocking down ladders. Soon after that another seige tower will appear. Go to the eastern tower- the one with no catapult. Don't go all the way, no use gandalf's range attack. There are elf stones at the top, but I wouldn't get these until you slay the witchking after.

What you do is run along killing the orcs that climb up.
On the little map in the top right corner, little red dots appear, they mean a ladder has been put up, run over there and kick it down.
Help defend your gondor men cos they help a lot.
When the siege towers come, hit them with powerfull ranged attacks.
The nazgul does not matter, i did the level without having to kill him.
Jenny.

That's several people who've said don't kill the Nazgul until after the last tower is down. I'll try that later- thanks everyone!

I played it for PS2 with a friend, and we beat it with no problem. We didn't kill any of the orcs that weren't in our way - we just ran past them and pushed down the ladders. When the siege towers came, we used our ranged attacks. It works quite well, actually. And we never killed the Fell beast, either.

i beat this level too, you basically fight and knock ladders till the tower comes, then you destroy it with the catapult, then another one comes and you get it with your ranged, and when i did that i won!

It's a hard level. It took me forever to beat it.

i hated this level. it took me forever and i got really frustrated.
i acually don't think i killed the beast at all. i knocked down the latters and destroyed the towers and then i think you just run down the stairs with all the soldiers and thats it.
*runs really quick to check*
yeah. you don't have to kill the beast. you just kick the ladders ( while also avoiding/killing the orcs) then do the towers (again while kicking the ladders and killing orcs) then run downstairs to the door.
this is a hard level and like i said i hated it and it took me forever.
if you (or anyone) are still having trouble and your ready to bring in someone else i use

good luck.

oh wow. I totally forgot that I posted on this.
Personally, I haven't ever had any trouble with this level beyond Orcs getting in the way as I run between ladders.
