My real name is Leenu, what means 'beautiful maiden'. Can someone tell me, what could it be in Elvish?

one of the names which translates to "beautiful" is Vanya, and that's female, so how's that?

Rachel = little lamb/ewe = Tithenmamiwen

but, honestly, i like the name i have on here. Mairon was sauron's original name, meaning "the admirable," then i put the feminine ending of -iel on there, and, voila. Maironiel, the admirable...woman. :P

My name means 'Follower of God'. So according to A-U.com, that would be 'Eruphadriel.'

It sounds lovely!

Esteleth means 'Lady of Hope'. From estel, meaning hope, and elleth, meaning lady...only I took an l out and kinda merged them together. xD

My name means "Fragrant climbing olive flower" xD I bet there isn't a translation for that....

Tinúviel means "nightingale" or "star-daughter", and Niphredil is a pale winter flower.

So where do you go to figure out your elvish name.

i know there are translators out there but they all come up with something different.

how do you know it's the CORRECT translation of your name according to Tolkien's elvish?

On the main AU site (not the forum part, I mean) there's an Elvish section that you can go onto and look up your name.

I really don't know how you would know if it's the correct translation, though, since there are so many different versions out there.

Speaking of the Elvish name section, a few names say to see other names that aren't on the list, for instance Jasmine :/

Maybe there isn't an Elvish translation for Jasmine? *Shrugs* I'm not sure. :confused:

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but on some other names, it says "See Jasmine" and it isn't there ^^;

Ah I see. :)

Yeah... that is what I wonder... how do you know with tons of different translations out there? And how do these so called "translators" go about translating your name into elvish anyway?

I would bet if you looked at Tolkien's original Elvish as used in LOTR there would be any way to directly translate a name into elvish unless you went by it's meaning.

^It depends on the translator, really. Some "translators" that you just type your name into work like this: they have a bunch of preset names in them, and they match a name by using the first and last letters of your name. If that makes any sense... :confused: As for using the meaning... I think that's where a lot of the translation runs into problems. A lot of names have more than one meaning, or the meaning is interpreted differently. The latter point that I mentioned is something that I've noticed while trying to find my own name. Some names don't have an exact Elvish translation, either. Other than that, I don't know what the reasoning is for having such a wide spectrum of difference. :P

Yeah. I mean I know that like Michael is english, Mickiel (or however it's spelled) is spanish and I think french is something like Megelo or something weird.

But there are some languages that you can't make direct translations of names or even phrases for that matter.

*shrugs*
