"Rules for a Language Forum?" you ask. Why yes, rules for a language forum. Languages can be confusing and if one is not your first language, you may have some mistakes in trying to learn it but that's how we learn.

The Language forum is purely for Lord of the Rings languages and for the fans that want to learn beautiful languages of the Elves, Rohan, and the Numenoreans.

But.

Yes, but.

There are some people that make it very unpleasant to learn these beautiful languages.

Do you know who those are?

Show-offs. Yes, show-offs.

Dictionary.com:
Quote:
show·off (shôf, -f)
n.
The act of showing off.
One who shows off.

show-off

n : someone who deliberately behaves in such a way as to attract attention

Please, we make mistakes, and many of us can be NICELY corrected but please do not flaunt around shoving incorrections in our faces. It doesn't make you look cool and wise. It makes you look rude and a know-it-all. And who likes a rude, know-it-all? Certainly, not me.
So please, respect each other, be friendly, help each other, and have fun!

and

Isn't it Suilad? I have no idea. *hates it when she reads five or six different versions of a word and never knows which one it is*
Anyway. Hi!

Kudos to Kitoky for the fabulous signature set, and art credit to engelszorn.
Who wants to join me in bringing back the lady?

I think it's Suliad, but don't trust me with that. Thank you for the heads up Kitoky and I know I often phrase things badly so please let me know if I sounds rude too!

As far as I remember Tolkien uses both.....

THANK YOU for posting that rule...that is soooooooo irritating! If I'm trying to correct someone, I just go like such.

Other Person: Naramia!
Me: Hey other person! I am sorry if I'm being rude, but I believe the word is Namarie. I may also be wrong, but that's what I believe.
Other Person: Oooooh...thanks!

As opposed to a show off, who would go:

Other Person: Naramia!
Show Off: The word is Namarie you n00b!
Other Person: *sniffle* I was just trying to speak some elvish....WAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!! *runs out of room crying*

So you see why show offs are bad! Plus I like creating scenarios...

YAY SCENARIOS!!!!!!

*smiles* Of course, I'll work hard to keep my language polite and appropriate. Do these rules apply to the tagboard also? :bye2:

I misspell in every language :P Peth-am! (that 's "word -up" in Sinadarin ;P

But I rather speak than write so I would be the last person to correct spelling, plus my key board doesnt seem to support the proper diacritics for the elvish (or norse or german or french).

Ok...that was my babbel-y way to say we should just ahve fun with Tolkien's languages .

Namarie :bye2:

I think Suilad is "greeting" and Suilaid is "greetings". Singular and plural...
