Hi unicornwolf, welcome to the forum! I'm moving this to the Imladris (the language section), where you can find members who know a lot about Elvish. They can probably help you out ![]() |

Eline is as far as I know a short form of Helene which means bright. In Sindarin bright means faen. So you have the possibilities: Faen (without female suffix, cause the most would assign bright one as the meaning of a female name) Faenwen (with the female suffix -wen) Faeneth (with the female suffix -eth) Faeniel (with the female suffix -iel (which can mean daughter, too) Faendis (with the female suffix -(n)dis) In Quenya bright means Calina. So you have the possibilities: Calina Calinawen Calinareth Calinandis Calinariel (I´m not shure if that´s right) I hope this will help you. |

The sound -th- does not occur in Exilic Quenya though [except if you adhere to Feanor's ideals about this]. A similar sound represented by 'thorn' existed in older Quenya, but this became s. Miriel Serinde was called Therinde by Feanor for example [who would not accept the change). Technically it would be þerinde (this -th- sound, represented by the letter thorn, was made with the tongue behind the upper teeth, not 'between' the teeth). Sauron also hails from older þaurondo. |
