it seems as though there are some people who want to learn elvish. I myself am learning and i am very good at it. But wats the reason that people want to learn elvish? Is it only because Legolas speaks it in the movie and u just want to copy him? I mean come on people, if that's ur reason then that won't be good enough when u get to the harder to pronounce stuff.
think about that

I'm learning Quenya for about three months. The only thing I can do at the moment is translating Quenya into German/English very well. But I cannot translate it the other was, German or English into Quenya. I don't know if I will be able to do that in the next few years.

I want to learn the elvish language not because Legolas speaks it, but because it is a beautiful language that 1 man created. If you think about it, languages take a long time to form, and tolkien sped up that prosses, and created his own language. That's pretty cool.

Same thing happens to me in Latin. I can tranlsate Latin to english. I'm actually quite good at it, but I have no idea hw to get english to latin. Its so confusing with all the stupid endings and declensions, and genative stuff, and don't forget the ablative. I still have no idea what that case is for....*blows up in corner*

i don't know elvish, but i do know a teeeny bit.
I think some crazy/obsessed with Leggy might be learning elvish for that reason. But I dont think they become very good. It's the Tolkien appreciaters that do.

I am trying to learn Elvish, but that's because I love the Elves. I used to be a huge Leggie fan, but that was before I even attempted Elvish. I don't like him much any more.

I love the language. It's so pretty and flowing, and made by just one person. It's so awesome!

I want to learn Elvish but not because Legolas spoke it. Actually, i liked when Arwen called up the river in that Elvish. I think it's really pretty.

Ok, i mean no offence to all the Orlando lovers out there, but i really hate Orlando. I do admit, he makes a pretty good elf. But that's not why i learnt(learning) elvish. I think it is amazing, that a man created for the love of his book. That is an amazing thing, and i think it would be great to honor him by speaking the language. But when you think about it, why learn any language except your own? I learn't french, but i'm never going to france am i? I more think of Learning Elvish as a nice time wasting hobby. GO THE ELVISH SPEAKERS!! Oh and i also Love it when Arwen speaks elvish in the movie, she makes it sound so natural.

Um......... okay.
First off, who are you to question if I am learning elvish or not? How do I know that you arn't just bluffing too? Yes, I admit that I am taking it slowly and havn't learned that much, but that is because I need to concentrate on my Latin for school, but I am trying to teach myself. I feel hurt that you are accusing me and people I know of lying.
