We tried to look up some elvish on this site, but you could say it's too 'primative' for us. Can anyone get realy complex with elvish? I mean, we're about as high as the Tolkien fans get!!! ![]() ![]() |

Quenya and Sindarin are not complete languages, and in order to use it fluently new words and grammatical rules would have to be "made up." I think Quenya is the more complete. |

Quenya is better i think i am on with learning it... It is really difficult... Cuz i am finnish and not so good at english so the lessons that i print out are difficult ... Quenya is based on Finnish and Latin, Sindarin is based on Welsh |

No, I'm afraid I only know a few words and phrases. But I've taught my dog a little bit---seriously!---I've taught her to recognize Man Cenich or however you spell it (forgive my poor elvish spelling!). You know "what can you see?" She'll get quite alert when I use that phrase. |

Oh, I taught my dog some elvish too!! When I call out "Hu nin!!" (My dog) she comes running. And when I say namarie she gets all sad knowing that I'm leaving for awhile. It's pretty funny. I'm learning to speak Sindarin right now. I know quite a bit, but I'm not great at sentence structure and plurals yet. |

My elvish is a bit iffy - i know a bit of Sindarin, you know, enough to translate place names, ect. Mae govannen, ir hannon le nin mellon. (Well met, adn thankyou my friend) Im meleth rochae! (I love horses - one of the first things i learned to say!) I love Lord of the Rings would be Im meleth hir cor or something like that, i think. I think cor is actually the Quenyan word for Ring, but i'm not sure. Sometimes you have to substitute Sindarin with Quenya. Nin ore ir ereb, ben le. (my heart is lonely without you) And I know a few other sentances i've put together and some random words too. Namarie! Ardhoniel |
