Hey, I have just signed up to this site and have been very interested in learning elvish for a few years now, but only recently began to look into it. I was wondering are sindarin and quenya written in a different alphabet? such as Tengwar? or are they just written in English? Also, are both forms used in the LotR books/films? Thank you very much for your help and I am very sorry if this has already been posted somewhere else. Also, can anyone recomend the best way to learn either Quenya or Sindarin? Through a book or any good websites? This would also be very very much apreciated! Thanks again, Michael.

Both Sindarin and Quenya are written in tengwar and english, thouhg Tengwar is how it should be written.
The elvish used in the films is mostly Sindarin, though there are a couple of Quenya bits, like Aragorn's coronation song.

The way i am learning elvish is through the languages workbook on www.councilofelrond.com . You have to sign up to the site to use it, but it is very good, and there is a forum there especially devoted to elvish, so you can query things there, and, I believe, have discussions in elvish.
