I couldn't even imagine naming any pet Gandalf. But I agree, a lot of LotR names are better on pets than humans.

Yeah. My dogs name is Shadow but I sometimes call him Shadowfax And I was going to name my other dog Pippin, but my brother wanted to name him Toby, so we went with that instead. I had 4 hermit crabs once named Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin before _________________ <center>

Im writing a short story in english and its about a barn and horses. The horses names are Arod, Brego, Snowmane, and Asfaloth! _________________ <center>

Ahahaha that's so cute!
I had to do a character for animation class and I did a little silvan elf named Haldir .. that was a month or two ago though. My teacher thought that I named it after myself  _________________

As regards the origional topic, I'd heard about the poor kids named Gandalf... so last night at the formal dinner my mom holds each month and makes me attend, I told them about it and they hardly believed me. There was a chorus of "poor kid!"'s throughout the room.
I haven't had many pets of my own; only fish. I had Aragorn Denethor, Eldarion, and Imrahil Denethor (they got Denethor tacked on if they tried to commit suicide, i.e. jumping out of their bowl). But in our family in general we've had many more. We've had parakeets names Merry, Pippin, Sam, Elwing, and Lissi Lair (which is elvish). We have a tortoise named Turin. And we've had other fish named Finrod, Gandalf, Beregond, Feanor, and Maedhros (obviously my older siblings and I have a thing for ancient heroes of Middle Earth).
I will probably name all my pets LotR names, but not my children. We know a family who named one of their daughters Lorien Galadriel, and the other Eowyn (and then their son just plain "Steve" ). I don't think I'd do that. I can see myself doing middle names, but not first names.
