I never saw it in theaters, (I saw it on TNT when it premiered in 2004) but I also won't be here that day. I'm planning on taking the film(s) with me so I can celebrate it at least one way. For those who have TNT, they're premiering ROTK 15-17th this weekend.

I'm a time zone dummy, and I think I know but just to make sure - this is going to be 9:00am/10:30am if I'm in MST, right? Alberta, Canada?

9:00/10:30 it is. I shall beg my mom to let me use the computer long enough to watch it!

I totally plan on being there.(: FotR's my favourite of the three.

I, for one, never saw FotR in theatres. I was only 9 or 10 years old when it first came out, but I remember begging my dad to rent it for me once it came out on video. I had never read the books at the time, but it seemed like such an amazing movie that I couldn't pass it up. It was long, I remember, and I stayed awake until midnight watching it, and as much as I ended up loving it, I didn't watch it again for several years until TNT aired it for the first time. A few things always stood out in my mind from when I first watched it, though--Gandalf's arrival in the Shire, Gandalf vs. Saruman, Lorien, and the departure of Boromir. It was sort of...magical. And here I am, five years later, having read the books and all, still believing that Tolkien and Peter Jackson shared something wonderful with the world Wonderful movies, wonderful books, wonderful experience. < 3

I've also found some great little fanfictions and such since then. My favourite being: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2233675/1/, which is a very silly collection of letters between Boromir and Faramir up until Boromir's death.

And of course, who can forget the famous "What about a catapult?" animation?XD..Wherever it happens to be. I know it's somewhere on A-U.

I love that! I'm reading it now, it's hilarious, thank you so much for posting it!

Same here, I was nine or ten when FotR came out, and I saw it when I was eleven. Leeetle too young for fun theater stories :(

I rememember I wasn't actualy going to go and see the movie. It was only untill I saw an interview on SMTV live with the Hobbits that I thought I'd go and see it with my dad.

At the end of the film my jaw was no the floor and I was totally into it. I've been a fan ever since. I then saw the FOTR once more in the cinima untill I got it in VHS.

Ahhhh memories........

I started reading FOTR a few days after Christmas in 2001 when Mom bought be the book at the mall. We had just found out about the movie and Mom told me that she had read the books when she was in college. We thought that they'd probably ruin the movies and make them terrible. Little did we know when we saw it in January that I'd be swept up into the LOTR fan craze and plaster every LOTR thing I could find onto my walls. :bye:

Like many of you I spent a couple years living, breathing, talking, thinking, dreaming, daydreaming, writing, and watching LOTR. :D Drove my family bonkers. I just about wore my VHS out watching it over 100 times inside of a few months....

So that's my memory of the FOTR thing. *bows and takes a seat*

Hmm...I really want to be able to go to this, but my uncle is flying in on Sunday and leaving Wednesday, so...I dunno. We don't get to see him very often, so I'm sure we'll be doing stuff with him most of the day. There's a chance I'll be able to make the 3rd showing.

I really really wish I could come! :'( But this computer doesn't even have DVD player. And even if it did, it wouldn't help much... my parents would never let me on this computer for long enough.
