Can you believe it?

We're less than one month from the 5th anniversary of the release of Fellowship of the Rings in theaters!

5 years. Wow!

Let's celebrate it and kick off our week of Winter Fun leading up to the great Ball---

By all watching the movie in the chatroom! :)

Dress in costume if you still have yours, or if you want to throw one together go ahead and do it!

We can all post a pic while we "wait in line" for the movie to "open" all over again. Of course it'll be the theatrical edition. No adds this time, though. Pure PJ magic. :D
While we wait in "line" we can have movie trivia, watch the theatrical trailer at the same time, and have all sorts of fun.

Bring lembas! Seedcakes! and of course Mushrooms! (there's a delicious recipe for mushroom-shaped cookies here if you don't want the real thing:
http://greenbooks.theonering.net/moonletters/recipes/files/w051703_01.html (you'll have to copy/paste it)
OR http://busycooks.about.com/od/cookierec ... ushroo.htm)

While we're all "waiting for Frodo" we might as well sing that great old song too: http://www.electricpenguin.com/waitingf ... /song.html

Okay, how about this:

In the meantime, you can help out:

***Post your memories of the first time you saw FotR

***Pull up old favorite links about FotR and share them with us

***Help us create banners to celebrate. They have to be about Fellowship of the Rings, advertising 5th anniversary on Dec 19, 2006 in the chatroom. :) You could even simply animate the FotR-ish banners we had for return of the rings 2006.
Here are some favorites which y'all will probably recognize as either your own work or from our summer revival 2006:

5 years... it doesn't seem that long, I still remember walking into the theatre to see FotR for the first time, the exhiliration can still be felt running through my veins

*gets sentimental*

I remember the very first time I went to see it. :) I had spent a long while reading the books, and a long while before that wanting too. I was quite young still... FotR was the very first movie that made me cry. It seems both long ago and like yesterday at the same time. I'll never forget the magic that the movie held for me from the very first moment.

I don't think I'll be able to watch it with you all... this computer doesn't have a DVD player (I don't think) and even if it did, I couldn't spend that much time at the computer... but oh well.

I'm going to try to make it!

Sadly, I never got to see any of the three original LotR movies in the theatre's. That was before fandom struck me. :( I SO wish I would have. My parents would've never allowed it though...

Three cheers for PJ though, and his amazing masterpiece!!

:o They wouldn't have allowed it? Why ever not? The rating? Or the idea of fantacy--I know some people think it's wrong. :( I hope you can make it, and do tell your friends. THe bigger these things are the better!
I know that for sure.

I've been a fan for a long time. Back before FotR came out I was just chewing at the bit, I could hardly wait to see, both happily anticipating and nervously dreading what PJ/Philippa/Fran had done.
Oh, that day it opened, I'll never forget (I hope:P)

I went with a whole huge group of people. My sister, Arsarniel, and I traveled with some friends of ours, the MGs (Fencing Maiden, they'll be at the Southern Heritage ball in Monroe), in their large van, all dressed up. We first went to their grandparents house, where LOTS of pictures were taken. THen we all went out to eat at some fancy restraunt, where omd, did we turn heads.
I was sooo embarrised, though, when one 10-year-old boy put some Italian seasoning in his "pipe" (he was going as a Hobbit) and actually lit it! The manager came in "I know what marajuana smells like, and there are minors in the room." Ooooh, that was an AWFUL moment, and then there was laughter around the room as the boy explained what he'd done and was told to snuff it out.
*sucks in breath*
By the time we left the restraunt, it was dark and chilly, so I fastened on my cloak. Oh, so nice and warm. We hurried over to the cinema.
It was already pretty full, but (thank Eru) we managed to get pretty close to the front of the line. It quickly filled up behind us. So many people in costume, some great, others silly. So much fun. So much anticipation, so much exitement.
We filed into the room. Lights went out. Husssshhh.

I became a fan in Dec. of '03. The only memory I have of FOTR is watching the trailer and being mesmerized by it.

It was a really good trailer, wasn't it? :) Even as trailers go. Though maybe I'm predisposed to saying that :P
